Are all the newest wii dvd drives moddable?

My step dad just bought a new wii in December and is curious about modding it. I haven't really kept up on the scene that well. Are all the wii dvd drives moddable? I know there is some new black epoxy stuff on some of the new ones. Are all of the drives able to use a sodlerless solution like the one I bought Gmodz?

    50/50

you might have epoxy which means to use a solderless solution, you got to remove it
all the 100% newest drives have no drive chip, and cant be modded

look up the serial, it might be a older one returned, worse comes to worse you can swap the drive

    define "mod it".

Software modifications can be done to all machines. Hardware, as Admiral said, is different.

    How to no-solder mod:
Take the WiiClip and pop it onto the chip labeled "Panasonic".

    Easy enough, right? But ...

What Nintendo is doing to prevent modding:
The units on the shelf now might be epoxy'ed ...

The newest drives have the controller ripped out.
