We've done several hundred using the d2pro9 with zero issues.
It also seems like some places just got bad batches unluckily.
Well the unfortunate thing is you can't roll back. If I can get one of the said eject issue drives I can send it in to the d2pro team to analyze and theyll release the solution farily quick, as their support has been very good.
Lastly we got some wiizards in for testing, they are good but still just beta crap, so will do a proper review once the final arrives to us. We got the wiizard through another installer whom works with us from time to time that got some samples in.

On the Canadamods website for the presoldered D2Pro9v2 it says they send it out with firmware version 1.3 and is upgradeable to 1.4 with DVD. So either their page is outdated or its intententionally which is seems like a great idea and only people with D2C2 would really need to upgrade.

admin...might wanna change the modchip list to wasabi 2 first and then d2pro9 since a lot of users are having eject spin issues and require a fix similar to this....hopefully d2pro team can figure out the issue

Yes it was intentional at that time, but sometimes we just don't get around to make the edits, like right now we are sending out 2.3 and 1.6 firm but our site states a lower firm.
My opinion on the chart:
For D2A/D2B/DMS
1) Wiikey (if pins not cut)
2) D2PRO9 v1 /Wasabi2/Wiizard (alphabetical)
For D2C/D2C2
1) D2PRO9 v2 (simply because of jtag update ability)
2) Wasabi2/Wiizard (if not taking into account jtag update both these are at the same level as d2pro9)
For D2E
1) D2PRO9 v3 (simply because of jtag update ability)
2) Wasabi2/WiiZard (if not taking into account jtag update both these are at the same level as d2pro9)
With the d2c/d2c2/d2e it terms of solidity wasabi2/wiizard are less prone to issues when cross using them with chipsets, but if the right d2pro9 version is used for each chipset it works very solid as well, but you dont want to use a d2pro9 v3 in a d2c/d2c2 at the current time as it may not work, but it is being fixed (solution is already there).

Thanks Spyman, that is very helpful. Also I have read in some threads that for a certain combination of Wii Drive type using either D2Pro9v2/v3 or Wasabi2/3 requires a single wire soldered so I would suggest that, for each option you have listed, you also add whether the option is available as "Totally Solderless" or "Partially Solderless - 1 wire solder required"
Thanks again for the info.

all ours are completely solderless, other places have the 1 wire solder required, but we work to get a solderless option otherwise we dont bother to carry a clip for the chip as its pretty useless if the user buying it has no soldering experience. In rare cases has the d2pro9 needed the j wire to be attached directly, out of several thousand we've had 2 cases that this was the solution. Usually we found a way around it to still keep it solderless so that no wires needed to be soldered. We know a lot about how the chip functions/operates so it is easy to figure out certain things that can be done. During beta testings we spent countless hours lol.

I ordered one last week for my new wii. Not sure which version my wii is, but I just bought it September, which is one reason why I didn't want to deal with the d2pro9 and its multiple versions. I'll let you know how it works out once (if) it gets through customs.

OK, well I finally got my chip in (took about 10 days from CA to US). And I can definitely tell you that it works! No issues whatsoever, and no wires to solder. You just pop it in place on the DVD drive and you're set. I've tested it on Wii originals, Wii backups, and GameCube backups, and all are working perfectly. It looks like original Wasabi and original Wii-Clip, but since this is my first ever Wii mod, I can't say for sure. The fact that it simply works with no issues, though, is all that really matters to me.
