I'm newbie here. I got my wii on thanksgiving day from my mom. I have read about modchip, softchip...and then I decide to buy modchip like DriveKey, but I dont know if my wii is compatible with DriveKey.

I have tried to find on Wii Drive Chip Database but still stuck.

    My wii color is RED
    My wii serial : LU9515440xx
    My wii Version 4.3U

Please help me. thanks you so much

New consoles won't be able to use disk-based modchips, As the dvd drives cannot read backups at all.
Sent from my van, down by the river.

I'm in the same boat here. I'll follow this thread to see if you get any response. I would like to know if it is possible to do the trick by replacing the drive board with an older part. Then you could hardmod on top of it.

dont spend your money to modchip. just use softmod. I follow this tut http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...mod-guide.html
and my wii is working fine with Seagate FreeAgent Desktop External Hard Drive, 1.5TB 7200RPM -> buy here Walmart.com: Seagate FreeAgent Desktop External Hard Drive, 1.5TB 7200RPM - Silver: Computers

The Red Wiis should have D4 PCBs in them; you can't simply substitute an older Wii's PCB/drive as the physical layout/footprint has been dramatically decreased between older/D4 boards. The only thing you can use is WODE or Sundriver (or Wiikey Fusion, but that's all about SD cards and not an ideal solution). I mean this as hardmod options go...
