Need advice after 4.3U update with WiiKey

I mistakenly (and I really mean that!) updated to 4.3U on an NTSC-U with original WiiKey. Now, most games display a "can't read disc error." Even most retail games are showing the error. I've never installed homebrew, etc. as the WiiKey worked well. My original WiiKey is running the 1.99beta firmware.

Any advice on what I should do? Is it possible to downgrade to 4.2U? I'm a newbie, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem. Talked to some people and got some idea. The wiikey and the new fw together caused the disc drive not working right. One way to solve the problem is to remove the wiikey and than softmod thw wii. I am waiting to see if there is any other way to fix it without remove the wiikey. If anybody know a better way to fix it, please response.

This sounds like the same problem I am having with my PAL wii, with the update the discs dont recognise or they load for a while then get an error message... sucks!

    How do we fix this?

If anyone knows how to recover it, please response. The problem is the disc drive is not working and the only hope might be the sd slot. But my homebrew channel is gone too on the update.

Recently I brick also my wii with wiikey 1 and firmware 1.99beta firmware
after accidentally online update to 4.3u
However I manage to recover back to 4.1u by following instruction at link below
    http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...mod-guide.html
I'm using backup YU-GI-OH 5D Wheelie Breaker game, which i found by googling torrent
I don't need to take out modchip, everything works according to instruction

I can confirm that if you follow the downgrade to 4.1 tutorials (I think you need that Indianna Jones game or the other one to use buffer overflow) then the WiiKey will still work fine on 4.1 - this is the reason I haven't gone from 4.1 to 4.3 - the problem with WiiKey clash. Now I have softmodded I have the best of both worlds and have no problems with any title at all.

I upgraded from 3.4 to 4.1, updated the shop and all IOS's to the very latest versions to ensure compatibility with latest games. Whilst you are doing that downgrade process I would make sure you install Bootmii and Priiloader as well to help protect against bricking it.

    WiiKey 4.3U - no problems

Okay I have the WiiKey a first gen wii and was at 3.4U

First I upgraded to 1.99 beta
Then I configured the wii key with 1.9 config disk
Then I updated via online update to 4.3U
All my games play great now.

Previously on 3.4U GoldenEye and others would not start and simply give a black screen. I upgraded and all was well immediately.
