    Japan Wii with modchip help

I have a Japanese Wii that I bought in Taiwan a couple of years ago. It was modded when new at the store I purchased it at.

I just got back from the States with a copy of Sports Resort and a pair of motion controllers...the box could recognize the game disc in the top menu, but I couldn't get it to actually load...so I did a System Update through the Wii menu. Yea, probably stupid...I've used the box so infrequently since I bought it, I'd forgotten it was modded.

I opened the unit, and it has this installed in it:
Wii Modchip / Wii Chip / Wiitop Dual+E Manufacturer, Supplier & Exporter - ECPlaza
Whoever did the work did a good job...clean and neatly routed wires inside the box.

Anyway, with the latest system update, the Wii still runs fine...it can run a Japan Wii Sports disc that I have with no problems, but it can't identify the Sports Resort disc at all in the top menu.

I'm guessing there's a specific version of code that I have to use on the Wii to properly run with this type of mod & I've had no luck with net searches. Best case scenario is I'm able to get multi-region support on this box...I think I have the right hardware with this mod installed, but the rest is a total mystery to me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks~

Updating beyond 4.1 disables region free for modchips. There is a guide here by Mauifrog to downgrade to 4.1 if you want to.
    Damn I suck!!!!
