    GC2-D4 drive swap

Can the new GC2-D4 be swapped with an older dvd drive?

The D4 board can't be swapped out. It's physically and significantly different (read: smaller) than any other board ever made for the Wii.

I am a bit confused because i heard here, New Wii drive in the wild: GC2-D4 - GBAtemp.net and here New Wii drive in the wild: GC2-D4 | Nintendo Wii News | Nintendo Wii Games the drive was swapped

I am bit of a noob at this, but im talking replacing the whole DVD drive altogether , not just the PCB. It looks like it has already been done. i think.

I just wanna be 100% sure.

    Thx,

Hey I know this an old thread but I recently got a new wii and it has a D4. Can I swap out the whole drive for say a D2E as I'm looking at running a wiikey 2 on it and I need to know. Any help or experience would be much appreciated.

I recently swapped my D4 with my old D2c2 and it works.

As long it's the whole drive and not just the pcb. You should be good.

Champion! You are an absolute champion! I have modded my old white one which I bricked a while ago and just needed to know if i could use it with my new wii. Cheers mate I will swap the whole thing out then. Further, this is just a good note for anyone that bricks their console to keep everything as it will come in handy later down the track when you decide to finally fix it.

Just swapped out my new D4 drive with and old D2E drive and put the wiikey 2 solderless on my new black wii. Works great for anyone wishing to know!
