    hardmod help

    Hi,

To do this fix from the guide do I need the homebrew channel? Or can I load the wad just by following the guide with no softmod at all?

Edit: I need to put the contents of folder of IOS36-Fix_CB2-BB1 onto the root of the SD card right?

Hey, major n00b here. I've spent hours reading through tutorials and threads here over the past several weeks and am having trouble wrapping my head around it all. Please forgive me if my question is overly obvious.

I've got a wii with the wiikey 2, on 3.4u. I don't have the Homebrew Channel or a USB loader. How can I do a disk update to 4.1? The brick prevention tutorial says never update from a disk unless a forum mod instructs you to.

I found the list of games with different versions on here and saw that the Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing has 4.1 on it. I have a backup of that - can I use it to do the disk update, or do I risk bricking my Wii that way?

Any help is appreciated. It's a great community here and I hope to get caught up and be able to better participate in it.

Hello...I hope someone gets this and can give me an answer. Last post here was back in Jan.

Okay so here it goes...I loaded up everything as discussed in the 1st post. I fired up the Wii and loaded up the SD card. The system recognized the card (ADATA Micro SD 4G). It asked me if I wanted to load the boot .dol file and I said yes by pushing the A button and it loaded as expected. Then it ask me to select the type of Drive where my files are located (SD) and push to the A button again. I selected my SD card as instructed. It said MOUNTING the drive...then bang error message ( Error -1) is what message I got.

Is this due to the brand and type of SD card I was using? OR did I load up something wrong?

Perhaps you need to re-format the SD card to Fat32.
Do a full format, not the quick one.
If that doesn't work, you may have to invest in a
    standard SD card, not SDHC.

    Thanks Bmarlo

Actually it is about 1:00am and I got the card to work finally. I did the full format...not the quick format from windows 7. Did Fat32 which I did the 1st time but I didn't do the FULL Format. I installed IOS36. Now I will try a couple more to see if I can get a few games working.

    This case is closed!!!

Thank you for the excellent guide Mauifrog.

I'm going to try this tomorrow (first need some sleep, it's 01:18 in the morning here...). In preperation, I checked the needed IOS file here and I spotted the game I want to get working (Bakugan Defenders of the Core) needs IOS56-v5405. But then I spotted a game I want to download soon (Kung Fu Panda 2) needs the same IOS, but with a different version: IOS56-v5662.

Am I correct in assuming that I might as well immediately download and install the v5662 version for the Bakugan game, and that I'll be prepared for Kung Fu Panda 2 already? Or must I use the v5405 version?

Thanks in advance for your answer, your time and effort is appreciated!

    Quick update.......
I first tried with an SD card I had, but that one wasn't recognized (brand was so cheap it didn't even state its name on the card). Then I bought a SanDisk 2GB SD card, installed it with FAT32 and put the IOS56-v5405 file on it. Booted it on the WII (it was recognized, yay!) and I managed to install the new IOS.

The Bakugan game I'm doing this for won't run yet, it keeps on wanting to update first. I guess I'm going to install some kind of bypass for that. Will keep you posted, it might help someone in the future.
