Wiikey 1.9g Unable to read error

I get this on a bunch of games these days.. Since it got updated to 4.2e

SO what i did was try to softmod it maybe that could fix it i thought... SO i followed this guide: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...y-4-2-wii.html

Didnt do much but now i got a homebrew channel and a neoloader channel etc...

Still get the same error unable to read.. AND im only using verbatism dvd-r disc burning at 4x..

BUT at the end of that guide there was this : http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...tem-menus.html

So i followed that but still i get unable to read on a bunch of games.. Like the "new" mario games etc..

I don't think it has anything to do with the update. Sounds like the DVD pickup is on its way out. I would buy a new one and see if that solves your problem. You can get one for $15 on eBay and they aren't too difficult to install.

Also, if it is only happening on new games it might be because your modchip or modchip firmware is outdated. Newer games may not load with older modchips. You might want to look into getting a modchip that can be updated like the Wiikey fusion. Did you try removing the modchip and see if backup games will load with one of the softmod apps like NeoGamma.

Yes, however the games are still passing through the modchip even if it's not a backup you're running. I'm not sure if the original Wiikey can be disabled via the settings. See if you can bypass the modchip by disabling it in the Wiikey settings. Still sounds like the DVD pickup inside the drive is on its way. If it was a problem with the modchip it would go to a black screen and give an error where you can't do anything else but power down the Wii. That's not what's happening correct?
