Um can I softmod a Wii that already has a wiikey or is it not nessesary

This might be a dumb question, but I was given a Jap wii with a wiikey which I have accidently upgraded online to 4.2. I am having problems playing games, by changing the code (or Im prob not doing that right either) though so I was wanting to first change the region then play games and also get free channels.

Does the wii need to be modded further than just having a wiikey or does that just defeat the purpose of having a wiikey.

If I dont need to do any further mods could someone please help me with the playing games part and region change.

the 4.2 update only removed the ability to play outer region games(non japanese games) from your wiikey.....

    You are right, it is.

Your update to 4.2 has screwed your other region (than JAP) game loading. There is no hardmod workaround for this using a Wiikey.

You can softmod of course if you wish, but we won't discuss that here as it's grossly off topic to the area.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

Ok so I was given this wii with a few games from my brother a few years ago he did the games himself. Although he could not really remember what he did he said that he had to change the region of each game to Jap in order for it to work.
I know its too late cause its been updated now but could you educate me as to why I couldnt play any burnt games.
These were what he told me to do. Region free and Wii brick block.
Was this the wrong programs or did he miss something or is it more technical than running the 2 apps and burning a cd
