Hi Rocketomy, $100 installed including the chip is fair. We charge $90 here, or $100 with clip. We offer 1 yr warranty though, so hopefully he offers a good warranty on his system. I would recommend sticking with him installing his own chip, that way if there are any problems then he wont have a problem exchanging the chip for another one etc.

All right, thanks for the advice Spyman. I'm going to drive up to his city on Saturday to get a d2pro 9 v3 installed on my Wii. I'll still ask him for a price drop but if he doesn't go lower then it doesn't really matter at all. Well, thanks for all the help and might I say that this forum is great for people like me who were a bit confused about Wii technology.

Let's hope that the newer generation of wii drives with epoxy coats can also find some sweet modding relief as easy as us old folks can!

Thanks! But actually, I think I'm going to get it installed via Wii Clip because he told me that a whole solder would be more expensive and would take a whole lot of time. So basically now I'm paying him 80 bucks for d2pro + wii clip and the installation (he has to solder 1 wire I think).

Well I hope the Wii Clip is better than what I've heard and it will hopefully stay in place with a solder and the protective padding it comes with. I'm heading there tomorrow hopefully, so wish me luck!

You can check the websites of our sponsors for more details and their pricing
Correction........D2E-A9 is not a clone version of wasabi......the firmware in the chip is waaaay different and more stable as the wasabi.
This chip is highly recommended by spiktsu and including me because it have less issues than the other chips.
Thanks everyone for the great support.

Great *sarcasm*... I just found out that I have d2pro 9 v2 instead of v3... That sux...
What are the major difference between the two versions? Can I still update some part of the chip through DVD or are ALL updates going have to be programmed through d2prog? What about the utility disc?

    Please help... Thanks!

P.S.: No issues yet though. Just asking so I can know!

if you dont have any issues then your V2 could have already got the latest update.
In V2 if it doesnt have the 2.3/1.6 update on some wiis (not all) it gives inching/eject issues. Updating to the latest firmware from d2pro site fixed that. Now V3 came out when v2 was at 2.3/1.5, so the firmware it initially had was 2.3/1.5 which was prone to the same problems, though it worked fine if it was a d2e chipset oddly enough. Anyways distributors were supposed to get it reupdated to have 2.3/1.6 firmware, but a lot split it into v2 for d2c2 and under v3 for d2e (we did that initially also). So if youre buying a v3 you want to make sure it is 2.3/1.6 as that is the one with no bugs.
So if you have a v2 that is 2.3/1.6 or a v3 that is 2.3/1.6 you are fine as they are pretty much the same firmware with the addition of D2E support for the latter.

That said lower firmware doesnt mean you need to update, if yours is working fine then you're lucky The reason it doesnt work on some was due to various factors that can change from wii to wii.
