Wii ISO Loader demonstrated on video running "backup" copy of Zelda

Is this the day, is this the hack that frees the Wii console to finally run your legal (or, eh hem, otherwise obtained) "backup" games? As the story goes, Waninkoko, the latest name to emerge from the hacking underground, has developed a "work in progress" v0.1 Wii backup ISO loader for the Wii Homebrew Channel that will run backed-up game ISOs converted with a "special program" -- no modchip required. If true then the whole thing smacks of the original Xbox font exploit that turned that console into a hackers playground and noisy, all-media playing powerhouse. In support of the claim, TehSkeen has posted a video demonstrating the loading and execution of a backup Zelda game. If Waninkoko can deliver this to the masses, then the demand for a proper Wii storage solution is about to grow exponentially.

Thanks, very interesting indeed. Also could possibly be the beginning of the end of the Wii from Game developers point of view.

yes! finally! so will the games' memory be stored normally like store-bought games in the the wii internal memory or will they use a gamecube or sd card memory? And when u run the iso loader on the wii, do u put the iso files into ur wii, or do u burn it to a disk and put it in the disk drive when the iso loader tells us to?

I need this. Where can I get it. lol My kids have runned my lego starwars,my mario kart, and just today my smackdown vs raw game. If this is out I can back up my games and kept them in my lock box and just play the back ups.

This is why I didn't buy a modchip, kids. Patience, and they'll be obsolete.
On another note: Wewt!!

This would be really cool if it could just load Wii ISOs from a large external harddrive. The video demonstrates the homebrew app loading a burnt backup DVD on a non-modded Wii. Interesting, but would be great if you didn't need to burn the image at all. I'm sure that would be the logical next step...
