    Wii Modding Check List

I'm sorry if this has been done before, but I just want to make sure I know I have everything I need to reach my goal, which is playing games backed up on DVD-Rs on my Wii Console.

Here is what I have so far:

    • Wii

    Lol.

    OK, what else?

now you need to get a mod chip... you have to get a mod chip based on your dvd drive. run your serial number at wii tracker and it will tell you what type of drive you have.

    And wah-lah?

I wasn't sure if there was anything else...Like "this kind of media, this kind of burner".

Thanks a lot then. Also, once I go home get my serial number and send it through the tracker and get my info on what I should get, I'll post what it says here and then maybe you or anyone else could suggest a provider? For example: GMOZ, CanadaMODs, etc...

Most people have had success using DVD-R disc (Verbatim, Sony, TDK), using ImgBurn to burn iso at 4x speed. Also it is recommended that updates from iso be removed for which you can use wiu1.1. You will not be able to rip original Wii disc unless you have a special DVD Rom Drive by LG, but there are now DVD Dumpers which can back up Wii disc to PC (via WiFi/Network), SD Card, USB Flash Drive and requires Homebrew channel.

You can take a look at the sponsors section for recommended resellers

Which means your Wii Drive type is most likely DMS, which means you have choice of WiiKey, D2pro9v2, Wasabi2 and others

Alright awesome. Sorry, I've got question after question.

Of those, which do you prefer? I'm definitely shooting for solderless, btw.

    D2pro9v2 is my guess...

    Or this? http://canadamods.ca/store/index.php...d&productId=50

Take a look at the following post, it gives the options available for DMS.

http://www.wiihacks.com/wii-modchip/...html#post23746 - Also read the rest of the thread.

Also please spend some time reading about each chip you are considering because, as you will read, you will see the issues and success people have had with each chip. The decision then has to be yours based on your research. You find one person say buy "this" chip and another will say buy the "other" chip. You should also, while researching jot down the questions you have and email them to the different resellers.

im getting the d2pro9v3 with the wiiclip from gmodz.ca. i will let you know the transaction went when i recieve it. your best best is to open the wii and look at the chip since it doesnt have a 100% answer. and for that you need a triwing screwdriver
