What chip? Where to buy? (I'm in Texas)

We just bought a Wii about a month ago, we're (me and my wife) are older generation among you young folks, but we absolutely love Wii.

The serial is: LU584413*** USA Version.

What chip is good for this console? Where should I buy?

    Thanks.

    Hi there,
Depends on the wii itself, the serial lookup is only a guide.
However... d2pro Or wasabi are IMHO the best options out there.
Do not get a wii clip, either get the mod done by an installer or if you are handy soldering, you can try it yourself. The pins are about 0.5mm pitch.
I understand the law is different there than up in Canada, so I am not sure where you can buy.
    Hope this helps

There is nothing wrong with a wii-clip if its installed correctly, we've sold thousands of them and only ever get a few that have problems. If something works great you dont see posts about it, but when something doesnt of course you will see a post about it. I am a professional modder for over 7 years, and I had my angle against the clip as well, but its proven itself to be a great solution. We ship to USA usually 3-5 days if there is no customs problem.

Our recommendation for your particular wii would be the wasabi2. If youre soldering it in yourself it is a lot cheaper than the solderless option, but if you want a solderless clip on version we're the only place that offers it afaik

if you are opening the wii up anyway then you may as well order the d2pro9 with wii clip and use the excellent video from CanadaMods and slap it in (carefully of course )

it might not be a traditional way to install a modchip but it does work the same. having said that i wouldnt go against CanadaMods advice as they clearly make a good living from good advice and expertise

plus we'd have to deal with a lot of angry customers if all of them didnt work, but its to a minimal and we constantly work with d2pro and even wiiclip guys to try and make things work out nicely. A lot of issues did occur with the d2e v3 combination on older chipsets, which is why we've stated on our site fairly cleary which one to get depending on your chipset.
We were the first to have the solderless d2pro9 as a solution since we designed the clip, and now also the first to have solderless wasabi2. Our wasabi2 is 100% authentic as well guarenteed. Solderless Wiizard is here as well but have not listed it yet
