Ca Wii Mod Help Needed.

Hi guys the I just purchased a Brand new Wii from walmart mainly for the wife she's been wanting one for awhile. We bought it at Wal-mart a yesterday. I want it to play "backups" for those games that really don't look worth purchasing at full price also region free games.

The chip I was looking at was the d2pro9 with the clip so that I don't have to solder anything as I don't have the tools and will tryto keep the warranty intact. I've watched the videos at Canadamodz and it looks fairly simple to do thanks to well layed out instructions. So to my question, is this the right chip for me, is there anything that I need to know about firmware updates etc? I just purchased the Wii as I said and haven't even been online so no updates have been installed just played Wii sports a couple times. Also what is their any difference other than the obvious soldering part with the clip and just the soldered chip? Thanks in advance for any helpful posts and if there is anything else you need to know just feel free to ask.

Your Wii is likey to be either D2C2 or the D2C. Check the following thread to see what your wii drive type is -> [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

Either the D2Pro9v3 or the Wasabi3 presoldered to WiiClip would work for you. You may have to solder 1 point if you get the Wasabi, but I may be mistaken. Soldering directly has yielded less issues with these chips than having them on a wii-clip. But when they work they work great.

Also my Serial # starts off LU577 so I'm assuming it's D2c.

All the sponsors (resellers) listed on this site will send the chip with the lates firmware loaded. If you decide to go with D2Pro9v3, you might also want to consider purchasing the D2Prog which used to update the HW part of the chip.

Do read the appropriate modchip sections in the forums, it will give you some information on what sort of problems people have had and more importantly solutions to those issues. this way you will be prepared.

This might be the best one I think for me [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

Although I think I am a little worried about the inching and disc not ejecting issue.
