Advice Needed on Modchip

I'm currently looking into modding my Wii and have a few questions.

I have an NTSC Wii with the serial number LU5103xxxx.

According to Wii Tracker:

Your Drive Chip is most likely GC2-D2B.
Your Drive Pins are most likely not cut.

1) I was considering getting the Solderless D2pro 5/9 Wire Modchip. Will I need to cut the traces on the modchip as stated on the site? How do you tell if they are cut? (maybe someone can provide an image?)

2) Will I be able to play backed up PAL games with this modchip?

3) Is this the best solution for me? If not what would you recommend?

You also have the option of using the WiiKey chip. Its much ceaper and updateable via DVD.

if you can't or don't want to solder, then the solderless solution is good for you. given the serial #, it is the 1st gen with legs intact. Either way, the solderless d2pro9 or wasabi 2 will work.

I am now leaning towards the WiiKey since I've heard of media ejection issues with the d2pro9. What is currently the best solderless mod solution?

For no eject issues, grab the solderless Wasabi 2. Solid performance, no bugs. Or you can send us your drive and we can install a wiikey with the latest update and send back costing you less than the solderless chip itself. Up to you.

Does the WiiKey have ejection issues as well? Doesn't the WiiKey already come with the latest version where you purchase it? Just wondering why I would need to send my drive in...

Personally I prefer the YAOSM 3.2 over the WiiKey. The D2Pro team (makers of WiiKey) have constantly proven that they are not capable of fixing issues with their modchips.

The D2E compatible D2Pro9 still has issues with the ejecting disks although I don't believe this is an issue with the 5 wire install on earlier models.

YAOSM 3.2 is open source and you should be able to find a reseller in the US.

Failing that or if you don't have basic soldering skills I'd recommend a Wii-boss solderless solution or even a Wasabi but this may be a little bit more expensive.
