D2Pro9 V3 install not working
Hello, I just purchased a D2Pro9 V3 presoldered to a V4C WiiClip. Once installed and I power on the unit the chip lights red constantly and no blue light at all. The loading mechanism pulses to load a disk even if no disk is present. Is it possible the chip is bad? What can I troubleshoot before sending the chip back?
Thank you for your help in advance. I have since removed the clip and all is well again (stock)

Different media? I used best buy disks and none worked. Then I used Taiyo Yudens and have not had a problem since.

What do you mean by "pulses"? Try unbridging the clk point on the chip and soldering on the wire from the F point to the spot on the dvd board. That should fix your problem.

aren't these new setups suppose to be solderless? I keep reading people having to solder their solderless chips?

That question should be directed to the wii-clip team since it is their product but I find that on some of the d2c2 wiis, soldering the J wire is needed.

I encountered this on a d2c/d2c2 chipset and was able to come up with a solution for it, so hang tight just a bit.

alright guys, i just did my d2e like a day ago with a wii clip, V4C. and a d29pro v3
you need to remove the j short on the wii clip. ie, unbridge it.
and solder in the jpoint wire.
she'll boot right up after that.

Varsis is correct, I removed the CLK short on the Wii clip (unbridged) and soldered the J point on the Wii clip to the drive's board and it worked..tested original Wii Sports and backup Indiana Jones and Mario Smash Brawl...everything works good.
