Us Serious Help Please... I Know Nothing!

Hi! My name is heatherlee, and i love my wii.. but it hates me

OK... So I bought my Wii from a friend who apparently bought it from someone who *may* have bought it in us and then modded it in korea... (thats what i was told)

The model number says " RVL-001(USA) " the copywrite says 2006
    the Serial Number is " LU30665380 and a 1 in a box

We do not have, or know of ANYONE with a triwing screwdriver-- is there anyway to find out what kind of modchip is in my wii???

It will play most of the ntsc games that i have rented... but it will only play PAL format burned games. It works fine with burned, pal versions of smash bros, metroid, ninjabread man, mario party 8 and a few others i've got- although i've just now realized we havent played ALL our games since our last update when trying to play galaxy - so there may be some that have quit working i'm guessing... arg

We knew no better and have ran 2 system updates now ... the first was for metroid prime ... and it plays... and then for super mario galaxy... which did not play -

With Super Mario Galaxy and Boom BLOX (both PAL format) I get an ERROR 001 UNAUTHORIZED DEVICE DETECTED - devices freezes up and i have to pull power and restart- eject disk or same thing will just keep happening...

of course they were two games i wanted try oh so badly

I saw somewhere that perhaps i need to update my modchip, but i can't figure out how to find out what kind i even have.... arg..

help? someone?please?anyone? We didnt even know it was modded when we bought it... i really need help.

thanks to anyone who even reads this!

    *heatherlee*

it couldve been this try checking if the iso of the game u burnt is really pal region. Use wum.

If u accidentally did update, then u need to find out a way to downgrade or maybe use brick block for all the new fake region isos that you download just in case.

First of all NEVER update from game, always update from Wii Settings to be on the safe side.

It sounds like you may have bricked your wii if you are now not able to play any games. If you can still access the Wii Menu system then it may be semi bricked and there is solution for that. See this thread -> http://www.wiihacks.com/wii-modchip/...-out-noob.html

The onlt sure way to find out what chip you have is to open up the wii, you can purchase triwing online.

I know that with the certain chips they thell you to first play a game which is the same region as your wii, and if the person who initially installed the chip played a PAL game then it may be that is the reason it only plays PAL burned games, but this is just a guess on my part. I would suggest fist open up your wii and take pictures of the chip and post them so that the experts can tell you what chip you have and solution to the nature of your problems.

Most of my games still play- we played mario party 8 this morning- okami last night- i have a bought and paid for version of mario kart though-- i probably should put it in and see if it still plays... i hadn't played it in a while..

I can still access internet & orb media -

where will i find the modchip once i have it open? will it be big? small? Is there a diagram posted perhaps?

do u have dual channels on your wii and can u access the settings menu?
if true, then u may have semibricked your wii...there are ways of undoing this
triwings are really cheap. bought mine on ebay for 3 dollars with free shipping =P

i'm not sure what dual channels are... yes i can access settings... can still play most games too.... my daughter is using the gamecube feature right now...

*edit* ok i think by dual channels you mean do i have double wii channels.... no i don't still all just 1 of each...

it is connected to the internet & i can still play my wii ware games too.... its just those 2 games so far that i've had the issue with...

should i run the system settings update?

one more thing-- since it says usa- but only plays pal burned games but plays ntsc real games... which one of the semi-brick fix's do i run? ntsc or pal? or both? will it hurt if i do both to be safe?

look there for a diagram. Ignore all the labels. The modchip will be somewhere there. It'll be obvious once u open it up. It'll either have lots of wires going from different places to a chip, a clip on attachment or a small chip soldered onto the board.
