djsmallz: You have a D2C2 drive that was made after the "transitional period" where Nintendo started changing parts. Probably bought in late may or june 2008.
MW61: You probably have a D2C v1 drive that was made before the "transitional period". Did you buy it before may 2008?
The ones without the second line are always D2C2 if they have the clip and sometimes D2C2 if they don't have the clip, but a PCB with "APCB" markings.
I got my first D2C2 Wii's in the Netherlands (Europe) around the 8th of may and they were fresh from the distributor after being sold out everywhere for weeks.
A few of the Wii's looked just like MW61 is describing and those were the rare D2C v1's from that batch and probably were the last remaining old stock.
I am beginning to think I may have one of the new unmoddable Wii's
its has the aformentioned line of text on the pcb, but the metal piece above the spindle is present, and I have both lines of text on my chip

He had a very quick turn around time, and I am impressed with the results. I deifintely reccomend giving him an email if you need your modchip soldered. great contact and customer service also.

What I dont get is how in the hell is the wii-clip supposed to work when it only covers over one chip, and clearly there were connections needing to be made to 2 chips on the board as evidenced by the above pictures.
So if i were to get a Wii sometime next week, it cant be modded? If that's true then damn. =[
if you get a Wii next week, most likey it will have a D2C2 drive in it..
it can be modded w/the D2pro9 rev2 modchip.. if you ship it to me,
it would cost you $120. for labor & chip. + $10. for shipping..
