correct SMB and SSBB didnt need modchip update while all other chips except for d2pro which is upgraded d2ckey needed an update....as for dvd video playback that can already be done using homebrew software....this doesnt require a modchip update and even the pic modchips allow you to run homebrew apps.....the question is always out there MAYBE in the future i might need an update and what do i do then? well this question has been going on for a year now......the d2ckey functions different from the newer chips which is why there are a lot more wires so i dont see this chip needing an update
on a side note i am not trying to promote d2ckey or anything like that....we carry all d2c chips but several people have gone with d2ckey because they simply dont want to follow the scene and always update thier modchips.....they just want to pop in and play and never deal with it again

Is this done using the Twilight Hack? Remember I'm 100% new to this (until 2 days ago), but I think I read that's the easiest way to run homebrew. Do you have any link with information on this? Not the Twilight Hack, but the DVD video playback.

Are you completely sure about this? One of those links I included in my original post said neither the Argus nor the D2Key allowed to run homebrew.

No matter how many pins it has or how different it works, new features will only be possible through a firmware upgrade, right? I don't think I follow what you mean. You may not be interested in future features, but can you know for sure if you don't know what those will be?

as for new features....i dont know what other features can be added to a modchip directly...if the chip runs homebrew then the rest is up to the homebrew apps....the only feature that i have seen added directly to a chip is d2pro9 direct boot.....this feature boots wii and gc games directly instead of having you click on the game channel and then launching the game

D2pro team lists on thier website that thier new batch of chips/firmware will support this. Installers are getting these chips in the next week or two.

Compatible with DMS, D2A, D2B, D2C and D2C2* chipsets
* "d2c2" refers to the second generation d2c chipset where the nr reader mode has been disabled. This feature is currently only available with chips displaying the d2c2 compliant sticker.

just to avoid some confusion....its not all wiis bought from april onwards that are unmoddbale....there is a 50/50 chance it is moddable...there is a very long thread on wiinewz discussing this.....we have modded several wiis bought in the last few weeks and have only come accross a few that cant be modded yet. there is no way to tell until you actually put a modchip on

all the Fresh NEW wii's(35) we got in the last 2 weeks without the 2nd row of characters under the GC2-D2C on the Drive chip have not been moddable with just the modchip
all the wii's we got in the last 2 weeks with the second row of characters..worked great with d2pro9 and wasabi
it's a pretty safe bet...I think?
which will be not a prob in a week or 2 anyways...
