    SSBB Dumping Problem

Anyone else had trouble dumping SSBB? I have a legit copy and I want to back it up. It plays fine. I tried using RawDump 2.1 with the dual layer clicked. It shows that it detects a wii disk, then a minute later it hasn't shown "finding seeds" yet then it give me " error possible faulty drive." It's a band new disk. I bought a lens cleaning kit and that didn't fix it either.

Need more info. What drive are you using to dump? Also, I haven't read about any successful dumps with Rawdump 2.1. I used Friidump .40. Took about 8 hours with an LG 8164

Can you dump a dual layer game like SSBB with a single layer LG DVD drive? I haven't been able to successfully copy my original copy of SSBB as of yet, and I don't want to make any more coasters...killed 5 Verbatim DVD+R DL discs so far.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated... I also have the LG 8164 and have never had a problem making backup copies of all my Wii games until SSBB.

There's no such thing as a single layer DVD drive (reader). DVD drives in DVD players and computers have had dual layer capabilities since inception. A lot of movies have been dual layer since the beginning 10 years ago.

How do you know your dump is bad? What chip is in your Wii? I normally monitor Wiinewz, so I know there's a ton of posts about adjusting your Wii laser, cleaning your lens, or using a different modchip. I have a whole 7 page post on Wiinewz about how my Wiikey can read about a dozen SSBB DL copies I've made, but my YAOSM wouldn't read them.

Can't get SSBB to work on YAOSM 3.0 (works fine on Wiikey) - WiiNewz Forums

Why not just make a single layer rip? It will work perfect and you won't have to worry about wasting any more DL discs or stressing your Wii laser. The only thing you lose from a single layer rip is all the video sequences. Nothing else changes. Single player, multiplayer, online play are all unaffected.

I'm trying to use Friidump to dump SSBB, but I keep getting an error at around 47%.

Windows gives me one of those "Send - Don't Send" error messages.

Other than the Windows XP error message, there is no other indication of a problem. (besides the friidump window closing).

For those that have successfully dumped SSBB with Friidump 040...
What CMD line instructions did you use?

PS- I'm using an LG-8163b and a SSBB original NTSC-US

    Read my post here:

WiiNewz Forums - View Single Post - Can't get SSBB to work on YAOSM 3.0 (works fine on Wiikey)

    My command was: G:\friidump>friidump.exe -a -d h:

But it will different for you. G: is where my friidump folder was and h: was my LG drive. If your command was correct, maybe your disc has a smudge or scrath on it?
