yaosm 3.2, is still working on 4.2 firmware, only thing is that it only runs games from native console region, but that can be solved with softmod

I'll check it out, thanks! I've been avoiding softmod since I got the modchip; guess it's less likely to be detectable, but apparently it's not fool-proof... hopefully they come out with flash method; not finding much on flashing the d2pro... I'll go with HBC for the time being though.

    WASKKEY 2 and D2CKey 4.2

i have a new waspkey in one wii, had a few problems loading PAL games, was burning on +DVDR discs did not read.

    Burnt on -DVDR worked fine.

The D2CKey works perfect with PAL games on + and - DVDR.
NTSC work fine on NeoGamma followed the guide to get it work on 4.2 and installed IOS.

    Hope this helps.

There doesnt seem to be much support for the WASPKEY 2 and their homepage isnt to helpfull.

    This is sad news.

I'm in the modchip/wasabi forum for info on only hardmod so anything else is just fodder.

It does not seem like there is a lot of fire under the fannies of the developers of these mod chips to put out an update that will help the mod chip users.

But we'll wait. Either a fix, or a new opportunity will present itself.

I updated using Waninkoko's 4.2 updater and it completely screwed my Wii.
I have Wiikey v1, neither backups or original disc will play anymore and to make matters worse, I have no access to the SD menu from the main screen which would be required to hack using the bannerbomb v2.

SD access is available and working from data management but 4.2 does not allow the system to be hacked from there.

I to a few of the many shops here in China that chip systems in store. They have told me that they are lead to believe that there may be an updated version of 4.2 (like say 4.2.1 or 2,3,4 and so on) That Nintendo have put out as the update since 4.2 which can detect certain modchips and will disable all games access and the SD menu so it cannot be rehacked.

They have told me to bring it in and they can remove the chip and then retry the SD menu and try original discs again as they are positive that will restore normal working order and they can rehack it for me.
Apparently they have done the same thing with handful of systems here and that was the cause of the problem, then once softmodded the chip can be refitted, my chip is on a Wiiclip, so I will simply do it myself instead, no biggie even if it doesnt work.

I have yet to test this out and I have lost my tri wing, so I am waiting for a new one to arrive right now. If it works and this was the problem I will post back to let people know.

If it is, then its a good job my chip is on a Wiiclip, it would be a big job having to desolder and then resolder the thing.

QUESTION - Where does Waninkoko's 4.2 updater download the 4.2 system update from ??? Is it from the Nintendo servers ??
If so, and I find that normal operation is restored after removing the chip then people REALLY need to be aware and careful when updating.

    Wasp modchip

    Hi guys

I have for over a year a Wii with a Wasp modchip (the old, not the new Waspkey), anyone knows something about it and 4.2 update?

If the «only» problem is region-locking, that's not critical for me - Wii is PAL, and I always played and updated from PAL iso's.

BTW, I have done no softmod, «just» the Wasp chip.

    Thank you very much.

    Andy

So, no one know about this chip of mine, I suppose...

Meanwhile, of my researching, it seems that:

    - this chip will also get region-locked, but apparently no other problem like bricking or something else

    - I was also «adviced» to «try» to update it using the latest wasabi firmware, that, among others, fixes BCA protection

Can anyone please give us some feedback and opinion on these matters?

    Thank you very much.
