I have a NTSC 4.1 softmodded wii that can play backups, everything. And, I've been looking at modchips. I've considered buying a Drivekey because that's it's pretty much plug and play. But, I'm unsure if I even need the chip..

Is it pointless or does it have a point?
While both Modchips (with the exception of the wasabi zero) and Disc Backup Loaders can read games at half the speed original games can. Modchips can usually help you get out of bannerbricks but so does Preloader and BootMii. That pretty much sums up softmod and hardmod. Also note that USB Loaders can overcome the half of the original speed problem
Okay, Thanks. I'm considering it just incase my Wii ever does get bricked. I do have bootmii but somehow I think that might be sorta confusing to fix after the fact of a brick. Thanks for your help again.

Bootmii/boot2 is better brick protection than a modchip. I've got a chip but don't use it very much these days.

Ok, so I've decided that I am going to buy a modchip. Are there any stores (North American) that you can recommend to me and any chips? I'd prefer a easy installation with no soldering. Like a Plug N Play or a Clip.
