Do I have mod-chip?

Hi, I'v had my Wii for a long while now, and just started to getting into hacking things.

1. I bought my Wii already hacked to play backed up games. Does this mean I have a mod chip installed?

2. The setting says version 3.1U - the store that sold me the machine says do not connect the console to the net, otherwise Nintendo will perform a silent push update that will render the machine unable to play the backed up games. Is this true?

All inputs are appreciated.

Cannot really tell if you have a modchip or not. Sounds to me like it is softmodded. Do you have HBC on your system menu?

As for connecting to the internet you can do so. We recommend turning wii connect24 off so i does not prompt you for an update.

Nintendo has always given you a choice to upgrade when an new update goes live. Its when you put in a new game with that update in it that causes a problem.

When I bought the machine about 2 years ago, it didn't have HBC. 3 months ago I brought it to the shop to have them update cuz I couldn't play some game, they put HBC on the console for me.

So there's no way to tell if there is a Mod Chip on the console?

I would ask the shop you bought it from. Seems to me that it is chipped.
