    Different Wii chips!

Hey guys im trying to mod another wii system that i got recently. I hear that the new wii's you have to use the d2ckey chip and no other right? How can you tell which chip do you have and is it harder to install than the wiikey? and i believe the d2ckey has more soldiering points too right?

First check out hxxp://nintendo-scene.com/wiitracker/search.php and see what chipset your Wii has. I think this site is very accurate, hasn't gone wrong for me, or any of my friends that I've sent over to use it.

If your Wii has a D2C chipset in it, then yes, only the D2CKey is compatable with it. I believe there is another chip in the making that will work with the D2C chipset, but I haven't heard about it being released yet.

As for the difficulty level of soldering... you have 30 wires to install. That's 60 soldering points. So if your soldering skills aren't all that great, I don't suggest doing it yourself.

Not sure how many points a WiiKey has, or any other modchip for the Wii, because I never really did look into them since my Wii is a D2C.

The wiikey only has 6 wires to install (12 Soldering points).
I dont have a problem soldering at all, was just wondering how many wires were to be installed and i thought it was around 12 wires. but 30?? lol..

Haha, well if you have a D2C and you want to mod it. 30 wires is a small price to pay, unless you screw up (then it's a huge price).

Yeah, I already mentioned it in my post =\

But personally, I think getting a programmer just to install less wires is the cheap way out =D.

Even if the D2CKey isn't updatable, I don't think it'll stop working until I get bored of the Wii.
