Gamecube Issues and Wii games

Hey, I'm a little new to wii hacking/modding. I have tried to find anything similar to my problems , so bare with me as I ask these.

I just bought a new drivekey, got it installed, have played many wii games without a problem (and also played through neogamma without a problem prior to modchip install)

My Gamecube problem is this, I instert my gamecube backup, Disc Channel shows the gamecube logo, then I launch. Screen goes black, but the audio plays, and I can hear the menu options changing when I use the control, however I am getting no video.

Another problem I am having is reading some Wii games. The first game is House of the Dead - Overkill. I got it to run the first time, no problem. Second time, just a blank screen. It reads on the Wii Menu in the Disc channel and shows the animation, but the game doesn't launch. I have also had this problem with DBZ Budakai Tenkaichi 3, and MadWorld, where it shows me the animation in the disc channel, but game doesn't load.

I Use Nero to burn, burn at 2x, and am using Sony DVD-R.

I am wondering if Sony is a poor choice right down beside memorex, I have one game on a memorex disc and it played through 10 minutes then said Disc can't be read and wont load any further. I have No More Heros on Sony disc and played it for afew days and now, random spots it says "disc can't be read" however I just pop it out and put it back in, and it goes back to working. Can these low grade discs really be the sole problem?

I would say that since you have been playing Gamecube games, make sure that any GC controller and memory cards are removed when playing Wii games. I know that one game that I tried playing from HDD wouldn't load with the GC controller plugged in. Second and third rate DVD media can be problematic at times, you should use Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R media to rule out faulty media. Other people report no problems useing such media, but it's a crap shoot useing lower quality media. Try burning at 4X and no multi tasking while the disc is burning, and also make sure there is no CPU robbing processes running in the background, make sure your virus scanner or screen saver don't start running while burning.

Also, you should be running the latest firmware on your Wii because you have a chip installed, unless you have all the IOS's installed that the games require.

EDIT - also verify the burn, this will compare the disc to the image, most people don't do this because it usually passes the verify and it uses up a couple extra minutes. But if you had a bad burn and didn't verify, you will not know that you had a bad burn.

System firmware is up to date, tried with GC mem card and controller unpluggd, still no luck. The majority of these games are PAL and im running a NTSC Wii. Does this cause issues? Ive played many PAL games with no probs. And still can't ge GC backups to work?
