You cannot find the firmware version that the wiikey is running. It uses a stealth mode of sorts and does not report any settings to the wii or any GCOS disks running on it (this is why if you boot up the wiikey config disk it will always show the settings as the defaults). If you are wanting to upgrade the firmware, I have read that there is no harm in reflashing the firmware if it is already running the most up to date version.

I just went ahead and reflashed to make sure it wouldn't harm it... and it still works like a charm. So no worries, go ahead and update !

woot woot! Glad to hear that confirmed. I haven't bothered updating to 1.9 yet as there really isn't anything in that update that I want. I use my wiikey strictly NTSC-U games and snes emulation.

You need to do the update in order for the game to work. If you have a PAL wii you should be able to do the metroid trick (turning off the wii at 15% into the udpate) and you will just have the double channels. Once you have done that you can safely use the brickblocked copy. If you have an NTSC wii, just do the update, it won't hurt it.

you just have 2 channels of the same thing, thats about it. You can drag them to another screen if you want.
