is a chip really worth it?

well i been trying to figure out soft modding for the time being still lost even with guides but while looking around i seen post about chips being better cause they bypass (?) some things like the whole region thing or something.so my question is would it be worth it to buy a chip and would be be safer then soft modding in the long run? also my wii starts with lu57 if that matters

well i had my wii since the beginning of this year and the first thing that i did was had a chip put into. I had another wii before the one i currently own and it was soft modded. I prefer the one with the chip because i never had to worry about running all these preloaders and patching the games and what not. So if you got the money for it, i would recommend you to chip your wii. if you dont have the money for it then just soft mod it for now.

I will never buy a chip for any of my consoles. First off in time they will burn out or burn something in the console. Another reason I wont buy a chip is because they void the warrenty. I have had my wii softmodded for almost a year now and out of the 200+ games I have burnt, everysingle one of them work.

bull they won`t burn out something
when you have a softmod you don`t have any warrenty from nintendo.
i have my wii hardmodded for a year with wasabi v3 and another wii with wiikey2 and have 250 games and never had a problem with the games they all play`s great.
and i have no worry`s to have a firmware update

In addition to all the reasons above, I agree....modchip is the way to go. The chip will not burn anything out (not to get off topic, but I've had a modchip in my Xbox since day one and nothing ever burned out), you can get Nintendo updates and you don't have to worry about installing software/updating it to play games.

ah that sounds perfect so with a chip i dont have to worry about updates from Nintendo and i can update and not worry about getting bricked from the chip?and with that i can just load a game i.e. a jap Naruto game for gamecube and etc?still new to all the chip advantages and so would a solder chip or none solder chip be better and which would be good to start off with?i give up on soft modding following the guides and they still wont work im gonna go for a chip so does anyone know how to remove all soft modding tries ive done?like how can i tell if i have any (cios?) in the system that shouldnt not sure if just a normal format would work.

Softmodding your wii doesnt void your wii. Id like to know where ben361 heard that considering I can easily remove everything off my wii without nintendo even knowing it was modded. Another thing about these firmware updates...... I have games working on my 3.2U firmware wii that require you to have a much newer firmware. I have out of region games working on my wii. Bottom line is that once that casing is opened, kiss your warrenty goodbye. If you know how to install a modchip, go ahead but if you fry something by installing it wrong, I know for a fact Nintendo wont give you a new one.

what rock have you been living under?...
