Can I still update a modded wii

hi all, i am a new user, I have also just modded my wii ( it is a new model with black epoxy and glue on the chip) and would like to know the basics. I updated the wii before moding and have now disabled internet connection as i dont know if i should still except future updates? i have been told that if i only download pal games that there wont be a problem as the system is pal.
the only thing is that how can you be sure that a torrent is what it says?

if it is modded then there should be an option to block updates from your own region. Or just always update from the internet and your safe. Since you have already updated then just leave the internet connected and it will let you know when there is another update.

The internet can't tell that you have a mod chip.

Update as much as you like, as long as you don't plan on using homebrew.

    thanks for the info guys,
1 issue that i have is the guy that modded my wii gave me some burnt games, they all play except animal crossing. he has told me that i need to update the deskTOP via a new game or internet(i assume that this means the firmware). like i said earlier i updated the wii a few weeks ago before modding, so i am surprized that there is already an update. can i tell what version my wii is and what update is currently availiable ? and again i am still reluctant?

Assuming that you only have a modchip and do not use a softmod ....

Update is really the wrong word..........
The game disk has the required IOS needed to play it included - IF the wii does not have that IOS installed it asks you to install it . Provided the game region matches the Wii's region there is NO PROBLEM.

NEVER UPDATE FROM AN OUT OF REGION GAME

    .
Have you used the search function ? used the Tutorial section ?

Did you know you can donate to help the running of this forum ?

two possibilites, either the animal crossing iso has been altered (ie brickblocked, region freed, etc). To fix this you will need to downgrade to 3.2

    or you're missing ios 38
or you're missing some other ios

actually there are three - the game is out of region - it might go to a black screen cause of that. its happened to me.
