    back-up means 'copies",
    3.xu could be 3.1u/3.2u/3.3u/3.4u == wii console f/w
    when u said REAL disc, my understanding is "authentic Nintendoxxx disc".

    searh " Backup Launcher 0.3Gamma " for more knowledge.

    I actually work with a lot of electronics building lasers and have to do quite a bit of soldering myself - but I still opted for the WiiClip. Mainly because if anything goes wrong with the console I can just unclip the chip, send it back to Nintendo and there will be no signs that a chip was ever fitted. That and the fact that fitting the chip was a 10 second job once the Wii was opened instead of a much longer time to solder and route the necessary wires.

    consider:
    -- would Nintendoxxx care abt the signs of chipmod or softmod ? i don't think so.
    -- would it be hard to remove a soldered chip of 8~9 wires ? i don't think so.
    -- would a clip work more reliable than wire-soldered ? i don't think so.

    barely connected is good enough for the chip to perform it's function, perhaps. poor contact, oxidation, loosen,.... would be annoying.

    Alright well it looks like i just have to figure out which chip to get and buy it then worry about how to put it in after i get it. i might start with the clip see how it works and then decide about soldering. I might have an idea to make the clip itself work better with a little home ec
