Error 003: Unathorised device has been detected. (Asia purchased wii - now back in UK

Sorry if this is a duplicate post...

I used to live in asia with a WII for the kids, my smarter 8 year old connected the WII to the wireless router today and now we get this error message. I suspect it is something to do with regions and perhaps a chip or soft chip installed.. I think its a japan or korean wii.. not sure which as i was in china.. and purchase 2009.

so how can i tell what type it is ?
is it reversable? or is the wii now a "brick" e.g. i guess that means usless..

i've read some discussions on teh 003 fault but honisty i dont understand what the posters are saying..

any advce is appriecated..
