Question of the Week Program Terminated

After a 4-week pilot program, the WiiHacks Question of the Week educational program is terminated. The program did not garner the support and increased involvement that would signal a successful program. Accordingly, the program is now closed.

Thank yous go out to s0ur and WiiJohn for creating and submitting the questions; accolades to Dogeggs and Tealc for reading the submissions and selecting the answer of the week. Creation of winner banners by Zerosyko to support the program were received with gratitude and thanks to ModderMan for giving the program a chance.

To all our members who submitted serious entries; your time and efforts are much appreciated. Thank you to all who participated in this program. Congratulations to our winners.

Not all new programs wil succeed, but be assured that WiiHacks will continue to try new activities and programs in an effort to meet the needs and interests of our growing community.

That's a shame! I enjoyed reading everyone's in depth answers as well as participating.

same here, this program was a nice idea too bad only a handful participated, looking forward to what comes next

I found it discouraging to enter when someone already had the best answer, and you really couldn't top it, and in order to try to do so you'd be repeating half of what they said in the first place. I never got in early enough to enter.

I think that is an error that a lot of people made. They should have just posted their answer anyways. You never know if you are going to win if you don't play. The best example was Stomp442 in week2. There were already a bunch of really good accurate answer so he posted a his answer anyway and took a well deserved prize home.

It wasn't just the decline in number of entries, but also the number of views for the thread. The program just was not able to grow a large receptive and interactive audience. So, I guess it was a PBS show, critically well-reviewed but seen by only a relative few. Oh well, as stated before not every project, pilot program, or activity will succeed. The pilot program failure provides some lessons and information about the membership and may be helpful to planning something else. Thanks for participating; even if you did not submit an entry, just reading the entries registers as a viewing and that did help assess the impact of this educational program.

That's a real bummer. I just found the thread and it was great information. Would like to have given a stab at an answer myself, promotes research and learning. I suppose that's life on the net for ya though. I guess you can't put all that time and effort into something that really isn't providing life to the community, but it's still a bummer it got canceled.

i thought it was a great feature, only reason i didnt answer the hacks.ini one was that most of the answers i had were given apart from one that i thought cruicial, but a mod gave the answer as a tip/fyi!! once i read that post i didnt bother as i didnt feel i would add anything new, i didnt post but did research each one, so in that respect it is a success :)
