n00b question about cIOS and installers

Hi,
I've read in the readme in cIOS36_rev7-Installer.zip that it requires IOS36-64-v1042.wad, same as the previous installer (rev 6), so I'm assuming the wad file doesn't matter and that it's the installer that has got the new features in it...
but then I read in [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]pag about SoftChip that it requires to use cIOS36_rev7-Installer.zip with a different wad (that is cIOS249-IOS36-rev07.wad which has a different size) so I'm asking, is it safe to use the installer with a different wad than the one named in the readme?
what difference does it make?

rev 7 is like brand new if i recall, so i dont know, but doing anything oppsite of what youre told could result in bad things, such as a Dead Wii

The newest cIOS is most likely better.
