Channels on SD Card

Is it possible to have vc wad channels stored on sd card and not wii internally?

Thanks.

I don't believe that is possible...yet. Nintendo is aware of the Wii storage issue and in the process of developing a solution for it.

ahh...the hombrew comunity might come up with something.

My Ideas: (these are just my thoughts.)
Wad Manager could be recompiled to install wads to the Sd card.

There is an alternative Wiimenu(called WiiMu) in the works and it could, possably, be able to read/launch channels off of the SD card.

So, in-terms of "Is It Possable" it could happen. Be as of now, you can't.

Cool thanks for the info guys. That would be sweet to have WAD Manager install channels to SD Card, and better yet an alternative wii menu that reads channels of SD. Very Cool ideas.

It's really odd that you can't do that, if you go into the wii system settings then you will see that underchannels you can access the SD card. If it can't be used for storage of channels then surely there is no point in it being present in the menu system.

There was a statement posted somewhere by a nintendo representative that said they were aware of the storage problem, especially with wii ware, but said they were not releasing a HDD for the Wii. After all if your using the channels offcially, once downloaded you can delete and download as much as you like.

The ability to launch off of an SD card would be ace though, especially wiht the size of SD card now available.

Unfortunatly the Wii only supports SD not SDHC. Which means 2gb SD Cards are the highest we can use.

So you can't just burn all the VC games and WiiWare games on a dvd?

Shigeru Miyamoto was asked about solution to lack of space on the wii.

"There isn't anything that we can announce today, but we have been thinking along a variety of different lines regarding this matter for some time now," Shigeru Miyamoto told IGN. "So my hope is that sometime in the not too distant future we will be able to discuss some concrete solutions."

(E3 Ign coverage)

Reggie Fils-Aime was asked about solution to lack of space on the wii.

"From an Americas-centric perspective", Fils-Aime diplomatically stated, "here is the reality we see. We have a consumer base who loves virtual console. We have a userbase who really is enjoying WiiWare content. So for us really our challenge really is how do we satisfy all these consumers who are loving all of the product we make available on a download basis?"

Of course, it's not just download content that's putting a strain on the Wii's limited flash storage: "As we continue to have things [...] like Mario Kart that has its own channel when you're playing from an Internet perspective, we're just making this challenge tougher and tougher. So in our view this is becoming much more of a mainstream problem, which is why we have a sense of urgency to solve it."
