New to the WIIcommunity

What can I do with the Homebrew & twilight princess hacked Wii?

Is this a way to add on WiiWare and VC games for free?

ohh ok. well once you have either the TP hack or HBC (homebrew channel) you can then run unsigned code of the wii, which means emulators applications wiiware/vc games for free. what i did was just install HBC and use that people use the TP hack to run there homebrew but the problem is that you have to boot into zelda each time. So if you have a 3.2 wii just download the HBC iso burn to disk and install. If you have 3.3 then you must install the TP hack get the HBC boot.elf and run that through TP and install. Once HBC is installed all you gotta do is get different applications to do what ever you want on the wii

As far as I'm concerned, you can run any ELF through the Homebrew Channel and don't have to use the Twilight Hack (useful if you don't have LoZ: TP). All you need are 2 more things: the PNG file and the XML file. I've attached a base bundle of these you can work from.

The image (obviously) needs to be in PNG format and its dimensions must be 128x48. It must also have 32-bit color data. It can also be transparent. If you want to change it just open my example in MSPaint and when you're done just save it. It will still have 32-bit color data.

The XML file can be edited by right-clicking it and opening it with Notepad. In my example XML I got from the Tetris game, do not edit the first 2 lines. You can change anything else within the tags. For the long desription you can hit enter and skip lines. Just make sure you have </long_description> at the end.

When you're done put these files along with your ELF renamed at boot.elf in a folder within apps. The folder can be any name. If you set everything up right it should appear in the Homebrew Channel apps list. I'm pretty sure this will work with any ELF as long as you follow instructions. I installed the WAD installer ELF this way and it works perfectly under the HC. Enjoy!

Crashdance22 that's only good if you have HBC installed, but getting it installed is the hard part, depending if you have a modchip and/or 3.3

What you have written has totally gone over my head.

The more I read about homebrew the more confused I'm getting.

1) Does the homebrew channel / TW hack needed for homebrew stuff if you have a medded wii?

2) If you use the HBC iso to install Homebrew Channel do you need the TW hack foranything else after HBC is installed?

3) what all this about ELF and boot.elf, I can't get my head round this, totally confused?

4) Whats the difference between WiiWare and VC?

Please explain in laymans terms, to quote a line from the movie Galaxy Quest - "Speak to him as if you were talking to a child"

All help is appreciated. Thanks.
