Interesting note. On some burner(branded name ones) it is actually better to burn at a medium speed (4x-6x) because the burner buffer is stable at that speed. How good quality of a burned disc depends on the process of burning the disc. If you burn the disc and see the speed vary alot during the process and the buffers move too much ( Due to lack of memory) that disc has bad quality after burn. I alwya burn my games at 6x speed on my Pioneer burner cuase it's the most stable speed. I use Magnavox DVD + R. NEver have problem with my ps2 (over 2 year old) burning game at max speeds.
