    Mariokart Cheaters Online

Ok, I might just be paranoid, but I swear I am seeing racers who fall off the course in front of me drop back on the track and maintain a lead on me online... I have also witnessed drastic misbehavior of red shells on my part, in that they don't care to inflict any stoppage to the racer in front
of me... In fact, my 3 green shells have spun around me and through several racers. So I feel like the online games might be rigged.

2 questions, good people... 1) Is Ocarina, or some other source of cheatery, allowing others to cheat their way to soulless victory? 2) If cheating has gotten through to online competition, is there a way to avoid racing against any cheaters?

I mean, I don't condone the use of upperhandism, along with this forum, but if someone's got to cheat, just do it so you can beat your grandma, ok? The rest of the world doesn't need your cowardice.

(I'll take my answer off the air... Thanks!)

Unfortunately there are some cheaters out there. I asked that same question here a few years ago, "Is it possible to avoid playing against cheaters." (Actually when I asked I was quite mad and laced my question with profanities...got in trouble for that one lol). Bad news is the answer is the same now as it was then - there is no way to avoid it.

Like you said, we do not support cheating at all here, and anyone who admits to it or asks about how to do it gets dealt with accordingly. Wish I had a better answer to give you. We do feel your pain.

That is not cheating. That is the result of lag. It's just a de-syncing of the game because of a bad connection. The fact is, no matter how good your connection is, the other racers' positions will alway be slightly different than they appear on the screen. I don't support FTW cheating either, but there isn't really anything you can do about it other than leave the room (or destroy the FTW cheater with your own FTL cheats, but that's not condoned here). There is a glitch in the game that allows you to quit and gain points (helps recoupe your losses), but I'm not sure if I should mention that here. Please edit that out, mods, if you don't think that's appropriate.

Thanks for that insight, I didn't know that. I was hoping there would be a punkbusteresque program one could somehow get running on the host server... Which I guess is Nintendo's property, so unlikely. Ah, well. Lousy cheaters!
