Unhappy CFG black screen when portal plugged in

I have a somewhat similar issue, but it is beyond weird. I have been searching and scratching head over this one and cannot get any resolution. I also have the skylanders giants game with the wired portal.

I am using CFG v70 with an external HDD connected to port 0. I have a powered USB hub connected to port 1, with the wii network adapter connected to the hub. This configuration works, CFG is started normally from the forwarder channel and the network also works as I can watch netflix as well as update game covers, etc.

I am able to play the skylanders game from the DVD with the portal plugged into the hub without issue.

However, when I have the portal plugged into the HUB (or even directly to port 1 for that matter), the CFG forwarder channel does not start the CFG menu but rather goes back to the wii system menu.

I have updated the cIOS, CFG, CFG channel, all to the latest, but the issue remains. I know that it is probably just a small detail that I have missed. The following is my syscheck:

At first, I also tried a usb hub, I don't believe this is a very good idea. I found that it's best to have your USB hard drive plugged into the bottom USB slot (if your wii was standing flat on it's feet, (or if its on it's side nearest to the edge),.... and the Portal plugged into the port next to it. (wired variety).
I had no problems with it being seen by the Giants game. by changing the game to run from 223.

When you say "with the wii network adapter" I have never used one, Only ever used the built in wireless of the wii to connect to the net. Is this "Wii network adapter" of the bluetooth variety, If it is, it may need to be un-synced and then re-synced once plugged into the correct port.

Or is it something that looks similar to this Wii LAN Wired USB Network Adapter: Amazon.co.uk: PC & Video Games ? It may be a conflict due to the USB connections.

Instructions for original Nin version can be found here http://cdn01.nintendo-europe.com/med...OnlineCopy.pdf

Have you tried using the built in wifi of your wii, or is this a no go for you?

I also found this snippit, http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/wfc...420&system=wii Only look at part 3.

So you've tried loading the game with either IOS223, or 247 then?

Update: I just tested with a working system, and it turned out my portal is defective, it gave the same problem with characters not identified with this Wii, and with another portal plugged into my Wii, my system ran smoothly.

So my setup was working all along, and my portal is defective. Thank you for all your help and recommendations regarding my problems.

    Hi all,
i posted in another thread, but it was suggested that i post here........

I could do with some help getting Skylanders Spyro's Adventure running on a hard and soft modded wii.....

I've tried the suggestions in the guide (223 or 247) I've updated the IOS's, and I've updated USB loader GX to v 3.0 I've tried loading USB Loader from the wii homepage, and from HBC. When I select the game, I get booted back to the start (either HBC or WII homepage)

I've searched but cant find a similar post with this problem, most posts seem to be about recognising the portal.....

    Any help greatly appreciated, thanks

Your softmod is outdated. I suggest updating that first by following this guide-->http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html
And then if you continue to have any problems after the update(You shouldn't) we'll take it from there.

Updated as per softmod guide. included IOS updates. Did not downgrade menu. Same problem.

launch game through usb loader gx, and I got kicked back to HBC or Wii menu depending on where I launched USB loader GX.

I had to additionally reload the game to the usb drive

    Thanks for the assistance

{EDIT} - Sorry - yes - Son is happily playing around on it now

as an FYI - installing the portal driver on to my pc seems to have messed up my mouse settings....

    Desperate need of help

Hi all, I like some others am receiving a black screen when using USBloadergx3 and after changing to use ios223. Below is a syscheck dump. I originally used this site's softmod guide Jan-2010, then used the updated guide a couple months ago and have even run through chapter 2 of the guide again to update all wads and ios' after MD5 checksum and don't receive any errors yet for the life of me can't get this to work. If I leave the game on default ios249 in usbloadergx, it loads but of course can't find the portal. Using 222,223,247 all produce black screens I hear the HDD click then flash it's light for about 20 sec then it stops flashing and sits forever at black screen (never resets to menu or produces error or anything on screen). I've deleted the game twice and re-ripped it. EDIT: Should mention all other 84 games play fine some I know I had to change to different ios. Game rip is okay since it loads game fine using 249 but at this point I dont even care about the portal working I'm wondering why the game won't load using 222,233,247.

I'm hoping it's something simple I've missed and one of the guru's can help.
