    Thanks pob3008,

as soon as the kids have finished watching Tangled, I'll post the syscheck.....

    cheers mate.

    sadsack

    Sorry about the wait pob3008,

Had a few problems my end, ..... I was going to use wii backup manager to check which ios the disc uses, only to realize that I cannot read Wii disc's. and I'm not up to waiting 4 or 5 hours to wifi the iso over to my p.c.

Anyway I managed to sort out the syscheck, it's a fairly only version as I noticed it's been updated quite a bit, although I have downloaded the latest version now.

    Spoiler

As I mentioned before it works perfect all apart from a couple which will never work from HD. but are fine through neogamma disc loader.

The kids are heavily into this game, and I'm not up for the drive giving up the ghost, would much prefer to run from HD if possible. I'm 3/4 of the way there, game loads fine just not recognizing the portal.
Obviously something missing just not too sure what.

If all else fails I have another updated SD card with a more recent version of usbloader, (but the kids love the red switch from the old version).... what can you do. kids will be kids.. lol
p.s. usbloader is v6, just checked.

    Please use the Edit function.

The base ios of your cios 222/223 do not correspond to the guide

    Confirmed working with:

Both USB Loader GX v2.3, and Configurable(CFG) USB Loader v70.

    Load the game with:

    cIOS247 [53] d2x-v7, or Hermes cIOS 223 [37-38] v4.0

The guide i used was the original that dogegg did a couple of years back, and all I have done is to install whatever wad has been necessary to get a particular game to run using wad manager 1.7.

Just managed to get hold of an iso about 10 mins ago, and I see that the game uses ios 56.

So I would need to update IOS223[38] (rev 4, Info: v0.1):

    or

    IOS247[58] (rev 21006, Info: d2x-v6):

but if I update ios223 wouldn't that bugger up neogamma?? (I vaguely remember some info that if 223 is updated neogamma would go up the wall.

My memory is flaked with bits and pieces and I have probably got it all completely wrong, but the last thing I want to do is to use ModMii, I know it's a good program but i prefer to just update what is required with wads rather that going the whole hog and re- modding something that is - apart from one game working perfectly fine.

Sorry for the aged responses but my only last updates was for ios250 for black ops (i think) and also a wad or two for the Shopping channel.

Thank you for all your help.....

the slot number is irrelevant really ie 222 or 247 or 249 doesn't really matter what u need is that cios to have a base ios of [53] if u are using the d2x installer or [37+38} if u are using the hermes cios, i recomend that u follow the d2x installation guide in my sig but changing the 247 base to the desired base 53 and then try run it with that

As it goes, I was just reading about the install guide for d2x cIOS Installation Guide, and I was interested in this.....

To install cIOS as .wad files all you need a tool like MMM, Wii Mod v3.0, or Wad Manager v1.7.

    Instructions

These are universal instructions. This means, the process will be very similar for the 3 apps.

    - First, download the cIOS wads package from - HERE --------------- (downloaded)
    - Extract to your "wad" folder on the root of the SD
    - Load the app you chose to install the wads and reload to IOS236 or 36 ------------ (will use wad manager 1.7
    - Install the wads

    Bases are:
    cIOS245[37]-d2x-v8-final.wad
    cIOS246[38]-d2x-v8-final.wad
    cIOS247[53]-d2x-v8-final.wad
    cIOS248[55]-d2x-v8-final.wad
    cIOS249[56]-d2x-v8-final.wad
    cIOS250[57]-d2x-v8-final.wad
    cIOS251[58]-d2x-v8-final.wad

Would I simply use wad manager to install each one of these wads

quick update, as it's been so long, I decided to remind myself of how wad manager works, ........................... please bare with me while I explain my endeavor..

Ran homebrew, (still using v 1.08, ) decided not to update to v 1.10.

    loaded Wad manager v1.7,

Select IOS version to use (my wii defaults to <IOS222> But obviously this can be changed to these numbers, 223, 236, 247, 248, 249, 250, 254, the numbers then jump down to 4, 9, gradually up to 36, 37, 38, 50, 51, 53 and eventually back to 222.

as an experiment I chose 236,

I could then select source device:, <Wii SD Slot>

I could then select WAD Dir ................. (I have many old wads I keep in here, god knows why....) (I think it's just so I can visually see that there is something there).

then if I had (say) cIOS245[37]-d2x-v8-final.wad in the WAD folder, is it just a case of selecting it and installing.

    Does that sound about right?

Thanks for your help pob3008, it's really appreciated mate and I hope that I don't sound too much like a noob. It's just that if you don't do something for 5 or 6 months it takes a while to remember things.

    Hi pob3008,

After doing some (did I say some, I meant to say loads) of reading, I came across this post, http://www.wiihacks.com/wii-games/94...tml#post625979
    Which points to a wad "cIOS223[37+38] v4".

From what I can gather this is IOS223 37 merged with 38 made by Hermes and is v4, and this is what I would need to get skylander giants portal to be recognized correctly.

I have downloaded the wad cIOS223[37+38] v4, but this is where i become stuck,......

If I use wad manager, Do i just install this wad using 236, or is there more to it than that, I vaguely remember reading that you have to choose 37 merged with 38, but that may be nothing to do with a wad.

And if I did install this wad, would my syscheck look any different to ------ IOS223[38] (rev 4, Info: v0.1): ------- how it looks now.

    --------------------------------------
    p.s. as a side note:

While I have been reading, at least I managed to get the shopping channel updated and working, bloody weird though, I did the online installation,::

Step 1- Load Wii Mod v3.2 and put "wiimod" folder inside your apps folder

Step 2- Load HBC and load Wii Mod, select "Change IOS" and select IOS 36 or 236 ----------------- (I chose 236)

Step 3- Now go to Channel -> Shop Channel. Select your region Wii's region and select v21 and Install it

Step 4- Now select IOS and choose IOS56 and install

Step 5- You can now exit Wii Mod

and at no point was I requested to choose IOS56 in step 4, ....... I'm wondering if WiiMod 3.2 recognizes that you already have that IOS56 installed and just bypasses it. As I remember installing it when I updated shopping channel to v 20.

Really appreciate you getting back to me pob3008....
    cheers mate.

If u have the wad u only need to install it the other method is for the online installation, and the second part of your post sounds correct

    Hi pob3008,

    Finally got round to updating.......

First i got hold of a spare 2gb SD card and done a copy of my original SD card that had cfg 5.2 on it...... (yes that's right I thought it was cfg 6 but it was even older than that).

Then using my spare SD card I did an online update of cfg to the latest version available.

Next I wanted to see if Skylander Giants would run on 223 before I did any wad install's just in case it was due to the old version of cfg, but Noooo, still wouldn't recognize the portal.

But I must admit CFG has come one hell of a long way since 5.2..... looks well good.

So next I Copied the cIOS223[37+38] v4 wad onto my SD card, and also the latest version of sysCheck 2.1.0 b18, and also WiiMOD 3.2.

After running HB, and loading Wiimod, I chose to change the IOS to 236, then back on the main menu I see that the IOS has changed from 58 to 236, so far so good.
Then I loaded "wad manager" and chose my SD card and chose the dir that held cIOS223[37+38] v4, and then chose to install it.................. It's usually at this point my bottle goes and I'm ready for the B button...... But I went ahead and installed the wad.

Installation was fine, except a weird thing happened after the install, I noticed that there was some IOS system checking going on, as I am not accustomed to using WiiMOD I assumed this was normal.
Eventually after a few seconds it finished and i was able to go back to the main menu and chose to reset the Wii instead of a shutdown.
The Wii rebooted, and I ran my old forwarder for cfg, (I have to admit the loading time for cfg was like 3 seconds instead of 20 or 30 seconds before, I don't know if this was due to the wad or the latest revision of cfg but it's much faster.
I then chose Skylander Giants, and kept it on 223-mload which is what it was on before, and ........... perfect, Portal recognized immediately...... Also noticed the portal was changing color which it didn't do before. (Except for when loading from original disc).

I thought it would be polite to just let you know that it works fine and thank you for replying to my post,

also wanted to wish you and your family a merry xmas and a great new year,
    cheers pob3008,

    sadsack.

Oh man!! It has been a while since I modded the wii. Tried running the skylands game on 222 but it didn't detect the USB portal, tried again with ios 223 selected in the game loading options but just got a black screen . :-(
