The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword introduces full motion control enabled by the Wii MotionPlus accessory, which synchronizes player movements with Link's actions while offering intuitive play control.
With the Wii MotionPlus accessory, every movement of Link's sword matches the player's motion with exact precision. If players motion left to right, Link swings from left to right. The precision play control is applied to enemies as well, as players must contemplate strategy when battling opponents that actively try to defend against attacks.

Note: If you followed the Softmod ANY Wii Guide you can already load the game with cIOS 248 or 250.

Is This Your First Motion Plus Game?

Motion plus games require you to watch the motion plus instructional video prior to playing the game. If you have watched the video for motion plus from any other game then you will not need to watch it again.
To see the video you can simply use the original disc that you have and watch it or you will have to do some setting adjustments in your loader.
Each loader is a little different but they all allow you to load a different .dol for the game. Find this option in your loader and change the dol from default to player.dol After you do that you will need to load the game and watch the video. Once you have watched the video you will need to go back and change the dol setting to default.

Game-Breaking Bug Info + Fix

Nintendo has acknowledged the existence of a game-breaking bug in Zelda: Skyward Sword and offered a workaround.

According to an email sent to affected players and reprinted on Zelda Informer, the issue results in being unable to progress in the Song of the Hero quest.

If the game has been saved after completing a certain sequence of events, it will no longer be possible to proceed using that save file, meaning players have to start over or revert to an earlier save to continue.

The situation is caused by performing the following sequence of events during the Song of the Hero quest.

1. At the beginning of the quest, go to Lanayru Desert to retrieve the song of the Thunder Dragon.

2. In the Lanayru Mine, speak with Golo the Goron.

3. Complete the Thunder Dragon's event, and receive his song.

4. Before heading to the forest or volcano regions, speak with Golo in the mine again.

5. At this point, the forest and volcano events will no longer occur, making it impossible to continue.

Solutions:

This issue WILL NOT OCCUR if the Fire and Water Dragon songs have already been collected before collecting the Thunder Dragon's song. Talking to Golo in the Lanayru Caves will also NOT trigger this issue.

If the game has been saved after completing the sequence of events, it will no longer be possible to proceed through the game on that save file. The only options at that point are to either start the game over or to use an earlier save file to continue.

All you have to do is download the Zelda Data Restoration Channel from the Wii Channel section of the Wii Shopping Channel. Yes, it's a full Channel!

Download the Zelda Data Restoration Channel from the Wii Channels section through the Wii Shop Channel

Once downloaded, go back to the Wii Menu, launch the Zelda Data Restoration Channel and follow the onscreen instructions.

To load this game you'll need one of these cIOS and use USB Loader GX 2.3, CFG USB Loader v70 or Wiiflow R417:

How to set the Loader to use a certain cIOS

Configurable USB Loader -> Select The Game-> Press 1 to go into Options-> IOS = Select which cIOS you want to use for the game -- Press 2 to save
WiiFlow -> Use a different boot ios .dol or Select a Game -> Go into Settings-> Page 2-> IOS = Select which cIOS you want to use
USB Loader GX -> Select The Game -> Settings -> Game Load -> IOS = Select which cIOS you want to use for the game-- Select "Save" to save.

everytime i try to play the game it gives me a messenge that says"Could not complete the calibration check".i have see the video before,that explains everything.Any idea what am i doin wrong?My wii is been in softmod for 3 and a half years now"i had use the Twilight Hack"to install the homebrew channel.Any ideas what am i doin wrong?

I installed cIOS as specified in this thread, but now I am stuck at the entrance of Faron Woods; when I tried enter it, the loading screen (white screen) would come up, and it would take around 10-20 loading, then the blackscreen with "disc could not be read" interrupted. During the disc reading, there are cracking-like sound from the wii, so I guess it was trying to read the disc or something. Before this entrance scene, there were some other white loading screen scenes happened (during the Wing's ceremony I guess). What happened is, it took around 40-50 sec to load (which is unusually long), but still it loaded up and I could continue my game. However, everytime I tried enter this Faron Woods entrance scene, it prompted "disc could not be read" error. Therefore, I couldn't continue my game.

I suspect that it is not the disc problem, because some of my game receive the same "disc could not be read" error. What is weird is that some of the game (Arc fantasia etc.) has this error happened only on specifc scene changes, or entering new location, during the game (the same as my zelda game problem). Therefore, I suspect the problem is with my wii unable to read or do some specific functions related to loading scenes.
