Are you using a Component Cable? If so, and you select PAL50, it will cut the buttom off.
If you have the PAL version, then this happens, because you can't change the videomode in this game due to the 50Hz/60Hz clockings of the retro games.

So I have messed with all sorts of different settings to get this game to work. It either doesn't work at all or we can hear sound, but we don't see anything on screen.
    I use usb loader gx.

Yea, the install to a usb loader is about 20MB. There are about 5 old school mario games on this disc. The games are updated with a nicer looking background and extra graphics are added in certain areas of the games.

Here is a review of the game - Mario All-Stars Limited Edition Review - Wii Review at IGN

Thanks for your confirmation, Stomp. Am using a FAT32 formatted drive, so I wasn't able to test rev17. I was assuming it works with rev17, but just waited for a confirmation.

    EDIT:
Still don't know the IOS it originally uses, though. IOSPatcher gives an error (I might try to re-dump), and I currently can't use my Wii.
