    Almost working

Hey all. First post here, be kind :P.

So I am able to load the game using multiple fixes mentioned on several posts, with the current one being rev14 with 222/223. Loading using uLoader and USBLoader GX 2.0. Game seems to run fine until I hit the cutscene with the Jaggis (on the resource collecting quest). When I leave that area after watching the cutscene, the game gets stuck in the Now Loading screen. The letters are moving, but it just sits on that screen (longest I sat through it was 15 minutes). Can't seem to find anyone else with this problem using the search key, so I hope someone can help me.

    Thanks a bunch!

    At wit's end.

Nevermind, I fixed it. There was a few steps I took and I'm not sure which is the one that did the trick, but I'll list the most pertinent for reference in case it helps anyone else:

Installed CIOSX 249 rev 19 with base 57.
    Installed Hermes 222/223 version 5
    Installed IOS55 with bug fix.
Checked to make sure my ISO was solid by creating a fresh rip of it from the disc, deleting the old one and moving the new to my WBFS partition using WBFS Manager.

Tested fully working with this method on CFG Loader, USB Loader GX and Wiiflow so far.

    ---ORIGINAL MESSAGE
Hey there! After reading pages upon pages to no luck in the end, I finally caved in and registered. I'm really not a forum-goer but I did read everything carefully and I'm hoping someone can give me some insight to my problem, because I swear I can feel more grey hairs sprouting from my head even as I speak.

    Ah...anyway. Monster Hunter Tri.

First off I will state that I own a fully functional NTSC retail copy of this game. I tend to rip my games onto a USB HDD because I mind kids on a frequent basis. Children that like to play video games. That have destroyed my discs in past, innocently of course but enough to prompt me to find an alternate, safer solution.

So onward to my problem. It just doesn't work. I don't even get to the standard loading screens (Check your remote, checking memory) and so on. Directly after reading the banner, the screen goes black and simply hangs there. My remote disconnects, the disc slot flickers and that's...about it.

The puzzling thing is I HAVE gotten it to work by burning it onto a DVD, using CIOS 249 rev 17, Hermes v4 and IOS55. However... the discs seem to "wear down", after a while of playing I begin getting disc read errors, sporadic at first but ultimately it makes the game unplayable. While DVD's are obviously less valuable than retail game copies, I'm going through them like they're candy and defeating my whole point and it's becoming a pointless endeavour.

So I've been trying to get it working on USB. None of my other games have any issue. I'll list what I've done so far.

    Loaders used:
    USB Loader GX
    CFG Loader
    Neogamma
    Uloader
    Gecko

    Steps taken with IOS's:

    Hermes v4 utilizing 222/223 merged with 37 and 38.
Also attempted 223 merged with 60.

Waninkokos CIOS 249 revs 14, 17 and 18 merged with base 37, and then with 38.

    CIOS 55 with bug fix.

Multiple setting configurations used -- 002 fix, vidtv on and off, force NTSC (though I found that somewhat pointless), loaded with several different IOS's attempting a process of elimination.

Every single method I've tried has had the exact same outcome -- black screen right after the banner.

I've used two different external HDD's. A 1TB and a 500GB, both WBFS formatted of course and confirmed working with other titles.

When switching the IOS's around I have just simply been overwriting, I have yet to check if deleting them and freshly installing with Anytitle would help, that will be my next step.

Oh, my firmware version is 4.1U.

I'm hoping that someone who is in or has been in the same situation as I can give me some tips that may help while I continue beating my head against this.

Any and all advice would be welcomed and appreciated.

I've tried multiple methods that have been posted (Including the one posted on the original post) and I still end up with a black screen after loading the game from USB Loader GX 2.0. I'll just post my sysCheck to help with information.

    Spoiler

It may be worth noting I followed this method http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html to softmod my Wii.

There are two problems that could contribute to the black screen (both in bold). The first (using GX) is probably the problem, since GX=fail. I suggest using Configurable USB Loader, since it has the best compatibility.
You should also change 223 back to v4. Neither v5 or 5.1 work as well as v4. If you want to have v5.1, I suggest you install 224 base 57.

I changed 223 back to Rev 4 and used CFG Loader. When I launch MHT with 223-mload, I get an error that says "get_frag_list:-1" and it sends me back to the Homebrew Channel.

What version of Cfg are you using?

Version 64 downloaded from here: Configurable USB Loader - GBAtemp.net

Edit: Oh, just figured it out. CFG loader just doesn't like NTFS partitions. I put the game in a FAT32 partition and it worked great.

    Thanks for the help.

Lol, nothing likes NTFS paritions. Configurable is one of the only loaders with some support for it.

Have there been any updates for the online part of the game? If so, do I just download them?

Nope. As far as I know, Black Ops is the only game that offers/requires patches for online gameplay.
