USB Loader GX running from USB HD
Before had the problem with the loud continous beep after starting the game.
Solved following teh first post from watermellon
NOTE - when using the Hermes cIOS installer you must be connected by WiFi. Normally I have me wii connected with ethernet cable.
Using this wired connection I kept getting an error:
"failed to allocate temp buffer" when trying to install IOS223
changed to the wifi connection and everything worked first time!
seems like a lot of homebrew may only work with a wifi internet connection?
thanks to all involved

Its actually just a particular way to be connected to the internet. If you change it, or try an offline install, hermes will install without any problems.
Thats the solution to -116 errors and temp buffer errors.
Apparently hermes installing doesnt like the Nintendo Lan adapters.

I used usb loader gx but I didn't know how to changed the ios used, so I used uloader and it works. I borrowed a usb hd to try this, but I have to return it soon. Is there any way to load Monster Hunter Tri from a dvd?
Edit: Oops I didn't know that uloader could run dvds sorry!
Use the mirror, it's still working.

i finally got the game to work, but the only problem is it's in black and white (no color)
Also the resolution is kind of scratchy.

hey there, just wanted to report that I successfully loaded MH3 on Softchip using ios 55 rev 4633.
got a 4.2U wii, softmodded using Messie's guide. I didn't actually have to install or modify in any way my Wii's current setup to run MH3, just tried that ios and it worked!
I didn't know about Mh3 having issues at first, so I tried neogamma as most games work with it. Found out about the black screen/annoying noise, came here to Wiihacks and found this guide.
I recall I had installed Herme's cios installer some time ago, and therefore had already installed cios 223 (if I recall correctly, it was a step to follow in Messie's 4.2 guide) so I launched Softchip and tried running MH3. Didn't work. I messed around with the settings, and tried some other ioses and got it working with ios 55 r4633.
However, a couple days ago I visited a friend and tried to help him since he couldn't launch mh3 in his Wii. He didn't have the same ios 55 rev I had, and I didn't remember which was mine at that moment, so I tried the tutorial posted in here. Didn't work.
However, he's gonna visit me today and he's bringing his Wii. His softmod is older than mine, so I figure that might be part of the problem in getting his Wii to run MH3. I guess I'll try using the same ios 55, but wonder if something else could be needed.
I don't want to mess with his Wii unless it's completely necessary. I think he's got cios 38rev13b, but I'm not sure about it.
would it be safe to install ios 55 rev4633? I know uninstalling a ios lower than 200 will result in a brick, but I wonder if this can be done because the new ios would be written over the old one, right?
Any help much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
if needed, I'll post a signcheck to see his setup with more detail.
