I had the same problem, with my MH3 PAL (btw, legal copy, installed through CFG USB-L). Basically, I can't say anything else that Cile & Nightstah didn't mention already:

My setup: Wii 4.1E, Priiloader v0.4, BootMii IOS, cIOSx rev17, Hermes v4, Triiforce_mrc, CFG USB-L. Mplayer CE

Worked for me, did the steps but never encountered merge options, just selected 38 then 37 in the second part.

A couple of things
-Thanks to all of you and especially to the moderator who patiently answer to all the dumb questions of neewbies
-It worked for me in the end but I had to choose 222 instead of 223

Sorry, I've tried used the search function, no one seems to have the same problem as me. So this is how it goes:
My Wii is softmodded, updated to 4.2, running games through usb cfg loader, able to load and play monster hunter tri normally. Able to go online, play with friends, HOWEVER, the max number of players I can have in a quest is 3 players. Whenever I join/host a 4 player quest, my screen would get stuck at the map loading screen with it hanged. I troubleshooted with different stuff i.e.
1) I/other players hosting the city
2) I/other players hosting the quest, played solo, 2, 3 , 4 players (only 4 seems to hang)
3) Put Wii IP into DMZ region
4) Forwarded every port Nintendo said to forward
5) Changed router channel to 11
6) Played around with usb cfg options to see if it affects, no results.
It seems it's a disconnection rather than failure to load the game proper.
If there are other methods I could try, can someone enlighten me. Sorry if there were ever such a problem being raised and I failed to find it, because I searched high and low and and yielded nothing.
Thanks for viewing and helping out.

Ok so i first followed watermelons steps but i still got the buzzing sound after the main menu. I also chose to do that way because i found a video tutorial on youtube making it easier to follow.
Ok so after that failed i tried Davepm's tutorial and got past the main screen, succesfully created a character, watched the beginning cutscene of the earthquake then i get a black screen. What could be causing this?
My system version is 4.2u
error 02 fix:Yes
It just hangs at the black screen. it still responds to me pressing the home button but it show the "do not press home button" icon whenever i press it.
Any help here?

My frustration with my previous attempts has abated long enough for me to maybe give this another go. I'm curious, though. For those of you who have gotten this working with a disc through the method described in this thread, not rev19 or anything else that has been cautioned against due to unwanted side-effects, what loader are you using?

OK so far so good used 222 working lets see though
