Be careful switching the IOS selection. If you do, you must reboot.

I use cIOS 222 m-load (37 merged with 38) with Configurable USB Loader and it works great... I've set several friends up with the same settings and everyone has had success with it.

ok, sorry guys to bother you. im a noob when it comes to homebrew. i have a wii with homebrew and all with ios36 v.4.18 (and wiikey 1.9 or something) and my wii version is 3.2E. Now, i dont know when i updated my wii for the last time but according to my sd card i did something with ios 249. is it safe to update with the files on the first post in this thread, or do i need to do some other steps first.

many thanks in advance!! i want to play this game badly, but as of many, MH3 freezes after new game.

Okay figured out my problem! It seems that for whatever reason wiiflow just would not work with the v4 IOS. I put Configurable USB loader and wouldn't'cha know it worked perfectly. Anyone who is still having troubles try running it with Configurable USB loader.

I've commented several times on this issue and in this thread. dave_pm's guide (um, you know --- post 1, page 1?) falls under the category "Recommended Guide" for this title. If you refuse and choose to do otherwise, all I can point out is "we toldya so." There are likely other options, but the involvement of that cIOSX isn't recommended for example in the softmod guides. Why do you think this is so? There's a reason for everything and we try to fail-proof our guides.

And what obscure reference is the above making? Considering you joined a month ago and now have 5 posts under your belt... I'm really curious what that would be.

    Nightstah, with all due respect,
No guts no glory. It's a common expression. Sorry that you feel you have to adhere only to the recommended methods suggested by the first post and only ever do what the moderators tell you. My lack of posting in the past would probably be more because of my actual adherance to the suggestions of most of the mods and forum users in general, which is to search more, lurk more, read more, and post less. I waited until I could make a contribution and I feel I have. I'm here because I've had success. Why try to knock my comments down with snide remarks for telling others that they have a chance for succes doing things differently than the OP? Hacking exists because people don't want to just take what they're handed and nod. No, there's a certain adventuresome spirit to it All I meant was that sometimes fortune favors the bold. I backed up everything, took a chance, and it worked for me. As I mentioned before in my posts, I don't have a USB drive and haven't gotten that loader to work with a disc using the recommended method, and yes, I've read the post from the beginning. Why not encourage progress? When newbs get talked down to and barked at, it helps no one.
That being said, I'm glad this forum is here. Without it I'd probably be lost. Thanks for being a part of it, and I'm sure you could tell me several ways you know more about this than I do, and you'd probably be right. But I got it working, which is kind of enough for now, and what many here are seeking.

A New User-Submitted/Non-Wiihacks Endorsed Thread for MH3 Has Been Created...

    Vucker:

First, you've posted, urged, or fully encouraged (potentially) the entire userbase of this site to disregard what is considered to be the "Recommended Guide" as laid out by dave_pm, who is a wiihacks staff member and moderator. He is both the maintainer and originator of this thread and the associated recommended method for MH3. dave_pm is a veteran of such things, witness his NSMB recommended guide --- translation, he knows his stuff.

Second, the actual content of substance of your recommendation involves cIOS-X Rev -19 --- a revision best viewed as experimental for multiple reasons (mostly due to newbie lack of knowledge with regard to base pair IOS best utilitized for this version). Wouldn't want a member to use a base of 37 and kill wad manager, now would we? This would lead to re-discussion of base to use, or alternates to wad manager (not to mention it may affect existing setups or present other game compatibility issues that worked previously --- but may once done). No wiihacks "Recommended Guide" with regard to softmodding recommends this Rev. to safeguard this from happening, for example.

As stated, newbies who utilize it are at risk of losing compatibility and a functional wad manager and other sundry issues that an average user may not be aware of. Think cIOSCorp in terms of newbie unanticipated behaviors, if you will. This is why a guide is fully vetted and becomes tried-and-true in terms of methods laid out --- to protect the user from unintended consequences.

Third, the tone of your post --- and I don't mean necessarily limited to your reply either, but the one it related to originally when questioned on it. Please understand this is meant to be a community, and as such common courtesy is expected to be shown. The 5 post, one month comment's purpose was to illustrate to a newbie who happens upon the thread that what you were suggesting should maybe taken with a grain of salt --- not an attack, if that was how it was perceived.

I have said in this thread more than once, that there are other alternative methods users have found to work, but they aren't the best. This all tracks back to safety of our members' Wiis --- what works best and with minimal risk to their units. Do you offer full user support for your alternative, non-wiihacks recommended method? If so, you can create a guide yourself and it will be permitted --- but you will be expected to routinely offer support for user problems.

We offer expertise, thoughts, and advice that's limited by time, skill, and strengths. Staff or member help is voluntary; we or the common user get no compensation. dave_pm has had committments of late elsewhere, so he has not been as active as usual with regard to this thread. Unfortunately, this has made quality trouble-shooting or solutions less than quick in coming.

Also, the introduction of other off the mark methods has made this thread a quagmire, with no clear concise direction if dave_pm's guide is not followed or if a user encounters problems while following it. I had PM'd him a few days ago and he replied I may do what needs to be done with this thread. Any/all references to the non-wiihacks method have been stripped from this thread. I have moved them to here in an effort not to confuse newbies. That thread has been opened to facilitate needs of our users who may wish to explore other options...

    Regards,
