Is anyone else having this problem with NSMB?

I got my New Super Mario Bros working on my softmodded Wii through USB Loader GX. The game starts great. I can play through the first world. When I beat the second (and last) castle in World 1, however, when it goes to load World 2, the screen fades out to black and then hangs there. Is anyone else having this issue? Is there a way to fix this? I've been reading through many threads but have yet to find this issue addressed. Thanks in advance.

Not just New Super Mario Bros.

So it looks like this is happening with games other than NSMB. So far, I have had this black screen freeze-up in Warioware Smooth Moves, Twilight Princess and Shaun White Snowboarding as well as Mario. Has anyone else encountered this? Does anyone know of a solution?

I'm running USB Loader GX on a softmodded 4.0 Wii.

Could be a spin-down issue if you are using a Hard Disk USB device. Sometimes you can download the manufacturers tool to manually edit the drive settings.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

Do you have pimp my wii in the apps folder of your sd card if not you should try to download it. if your wii is connected to the internet via wifi you could use this software to make sure you have all the latest versions of all custom firmware. I was having problems with nsmb different then yours but once i ran pimp my wii it fixed the problem. You could download it here: Wii homebrew - Pimp My Wii v1.3
give it a try see how that goes...

Thanks for the great tip. It did not fix my Mario Bros black screen problem, but I am really happy to have installed it. Still trying to figure out what's going on in NSMB. Any other suggestions?

Anyone else have any other ideas?

It could simply be a bad ISO... What version of usbloader gx are you using? What kind of hard drive do you have?

My USB Loader GX is fully updated. I check for updates every few days...not sure of the version number, but I'll check on that later today. I am using this hard drive: Amazon.com: Toshiba 500 GB USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive - Liquid Blue (HDDR500E04XL): Electronics

I will try a different ISO image to see if that is truly the problem. Which one have you used? Would recommend?

Yes! That did it. I must have had a crap ISO. I got the PAL one, installed it and BAM! It works now. Thank you so much for your help.

I had problems with NSMB using WiiFlow and USBLoader GX. I have the un-patched iso file. Another thread i was reading mentioned the current revision of WiiFlow had the patch for NSMB, so there would be no need to patch the game itself. Hey, it WORKED.

    cIOS249 rev17
    Sys. Menu 4.2U
    NSMB - NTSU (un-patched) running on IOS249
    WiiFlow R25 (249)
