Question Make a list of Wii games that doesnt give full screen on hd t.v (underscanned)!

Those borders really buuuugs me what ever you call them letter box, underscan, black pillars, black death boarders. Ive heard lots of names for them. and i know there are more people like me who feel the same. I thought sharing what each other know can help us stay away from those games, obviously out of choice.

The games that i know that has vertical or horizontal black borders on hdtv screen:

    1)mario and sonic olympic beijeing
    2)madworld
    3)hasbro party play 1
    4)hasbro party play 2
    5)resident evil 4
    6)resident evil archives
    7)boom box party
    8)Rayman: Raving Rabbids
    9)bully scholership edition

These are all the game i know so far has underscan problems, input from wii hack forum users greatly appreciated.

I have never ever played a game that's in a letterbox in my Wii. And I have several of those games you listed. For instance I have RE4. It look full in my TV.

Obviously because the Wii is NOT Widescreen (you didn't know that, did you)

Since the Wii is not widescreen we all have to zoom the image in our TV after selecting the "Widescreen" option in the Wii settings.

well Scorpius, when i zoom in, it either take to much away basically edges on the game are cut, or it take to less so you see the borders, funny thing is some of them works fine new super mario, paper mario, donkey kong, mario kart and zelda those games dont have that issue at all nor do i have to mess round with the settings. if you people know what can be done to get full screen would be good but i think its the game itself because why does that happen with only some games. its somthing to do with developers. I am currently using 50inch pansonic vierra with snakebyte component cable and yes i have tried all the setting and yes its currently set on hdtv/edtv also i had same problem with the scart cable nintendo provided, so its nothing to do with the cable. why does it feel like im the only one having this problem.

please can you tell me what version wii you got?. because ive heard those issues that im having is mostly european PAL users are having.

Use Wiiflow to play these games and set video mode to Progressive. Took care of all the bars for me!

But if you insist on a list, you can add Rayman: Raving Rabbids to that.

PS: I also use a Panasonic plasma.

PPS: Zoom in? I have my video mode set to widescreen in the wii options, 480P using component cables, and with a few exceptions, games fill the screen and look fine by default. With the few exceptions posted above, I just set progressive in wiiflow and all is well. WTF zoom in....

    The Wii is NOT Widescreen.

I have component cables, 480p settings, and of course widescreen settings. What the "Widescreen" setting does in the Wii is display things so they don't look weird when you zoom your TV, but the Wii native output resolution will always be 640x480.

Connect the Wii to your computer (if you have a like a Hauppage WinTV card) and you'll see.

Maybe your TV does some auto zoom. We *all* have to stretch using the TV.

    Widescreen Settings

You can change the screen format for your Wii display by selecting Widescreen (16:9) or Standard (4:3). Please note that in addition to using the Wii's setting, you must also adjust your television's options to take advantage of its own widescreen mode

We don't have to do anything, or shouldn't have to change anything, it does it for us. I change no settings on my tv to have it fill the screen, do you have to?

Progressive set in WIIFLOW or on your tv? I said set the video mode in the wiiflow settings to progressive, not on your tv.

How can you stay away from a game like Resident Evil 4? It's like number 3 in the best games ever made for the Wii in any top games list (Gamespot.com for example).

lol, apparently not all of us have to zoom then. My plasma does offer zooming, but I just run it in full mode or just mode and my screen is full. If I select zoom mode on my tv, sure it zooms, but the picture was filling the screen already so there's no point in zooming. Are you not using component cables or something?

If I play one of the above mentioned games and try to select zoom mode on my plasma, it will zoom in the picture, but the bars remain, so it doesn't actually zoom to fill in where the bars were (on movies and tv, if something has bars and i zoom, it zooms and the bars end up off screen, filling the picture)

I should fire up one of these games tonight and put pictures to show the difference wiiflow makes.
