    Mario without softmodding

Hi this might be a stupid question given the numerous threads out there about this but i have a modchip wii and is there a way to play mario from the disc without going through neogamma or any other softmod?

also, i know there is something about new protection etc ...does this mean that future dvdbackups will not work on a purely modchip wii that does not have a softmod?

You've touched on something that's generally being ignored, probably out of shock or something. But unless someone is clever enough to figure out a way to make it work without softmodding, Nintendo has won over the pirates.

I'd say most possible pirates would never figure out how to get the softmodding to work right - the complicated procedure combined with the big threat of of a brick (just look at all the threads here) will scare them off. The ones here who get Mario to work through softmodding are a minority, so as it stands, Nintendo has effectively killed off piracy. More games will definitely start using this, and I bet it's already up for free on Warioworld (Nintendos developer site).

I'm not entirely sure whether any of that is correct, sorry.

There is no way to get around the antipiracy measures without softmodding right now as far as I understand it. Correct me if I'm wrong. Look at the comments on torrent sites - people are completely clueless to how to get it working.

    - even this forum shows how effective the new copyprotection is - there are countless threads about it with mostly confused people. Even the most hardcore technical people here experience bricks. Some might know how to possibly fix a bricked Wii, but most people won't. Softmodding is simply too dangerous and complicated for most.

Thats why we're here to help people play their back-ups as safe as possible on their Wii's

We have nearly 250,000 members so I'd like to think we've helped quite a few of them.

Didn't mean to insult you or your website, I'm sure you're helping a great amount of people. But I still don't think most average Joes are capable of getting through all the hoops necessary to get around this new copy protection. I'm not, and I don't consider myself technologically inept. But the guides mostly confuse me and the risk of a brick is enough for me to buy a copy instead.

its only complicated and dangerous if you dont read the guides and understand them properly.

In time all chips will be able to play NSMB, it just requires the manufacturers of the chips to update their firmware, until then, you have to softmod to play it.

    Its not hard.

On the other hand, and, stay calm, because this is a radical idea, you could BUY THE GAME!! there, i said it! heresy, i know! but if you really wanna play it, then you have that option!

Which I ended up doing. No reason to get upset, I'm just saying what I think most people experience. Remember that what is easy for you isn't necessarily easy for me, and vice versa.

Honestly if i hadnt gotten NSMB to work (using queef's patched iso that i got off ntorrents (sorry no invites left)), i woulda just gone out and bought it myself also.

Mario games have never let me down, they were always enjoyable. Plus, its only 50 bucks, i have saved over 1000 dollars thanks to Wiihacks.com and tehparadox.com on JUST wii games, not to mention ps2 games.

So...point on my point: Don't be afraid to spend money on a great nostalgic game that you will love
