How to safely update to 4.1
How to get NSMB working!
has anyone tried playing the game from disc with this patch, a modchip and no softmod?
The FlatMii (with the latest version of FlatMii firmware) is capable of playing the unpatched disc (so I've heard).Originally Posted by maff [Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register]
All other hardmods apparently need a retail disc at this point AFAIK. Any mods that are not firmware upgradeable have no hope of playing a copy of this disc without softmodding.
...Well, the only hope for those mods is if someone figures out a way to patch out the copy protection and somehow maintain the Nintendo disc signature... I don't even think that is possible. But I don't know.
Also, keep this in mind... in order to break the copy protection on the disc, you also have to destroy the original disc signature. So it's a catch-22 because Trucha-signed discs will not play in 3.4x or higher Official firmware, and you can't play this game with 3.2x because the game forces you to 4.1x (if you do not softmod).
In other words, you have four options:
Option 1 - get a new modchip (wait for the next wave of chips or for updates for the current ones) that can beat the protection. I would never buy another mod you could not update. This game has proven such mods are worthless.
Option 2 - break down and softmod. Make sure no one installs official firmware from the internet or game disc or the Wii might brick... although you can save it with BootMii if you install that as well.
Option 3 - Buy the retail copy. Apparently it works on hard modded systems. I am only going by what I've heard so you're still taking a chance. Maybe it will work with some mods and not others, I do not know.
Option 4 - Don't try to play the game at all. Wait it out.
For now I've selected option 4, until I decide whether to go with option 1, 2 or 3.

How do i know if my iso of new mario bros is unpatched or not?
ummm.... well usually the one you get should say... If it has "Fix" in the title, it's likely been patched. There is definitely a way to tell but I'm not sure... Still figuring this out myself.Originally Posted by clifftheif [Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register]
I ran the .bat file and it created another iso file that is 0 kb. the original looks like it hasn't been altered since the date modified didn't change. Am I reading the instructions wrong?
BTW the unpatched version plays off dvd using uloader 3.1...for about 7 minutes![]()
Yeah, Im pretty well versed in doing these sort of things, but my ISO creates a OKB patched file? Whats going wrong here
