I followed this guide pretty much to the letter and it worked great.
I ended up having to install Neogamma r7 and cIOSrev14 on my Wii first, but after that everything was good.

As a side note, in Step 2, there is no file named "ImageDiff.rar". It's proper name is "imageDiff.exe". It may also help some to note that when you extract "New Super Mario Bros Wii USA main dol FiX Wii-iND", there's going to be more than just those four files.
Also, I had a hell of a time trying to find somewhere to download "New Super Mario Bros Wii USA main dol FiX Wii-iND" that didn't want me to register first (something I try not to do too often).

Anyway, small issues for what is otherwise a great tutorial/workaround.
    Thanks a bunch!!!

Why does this thread exist? Pet1 made a guide way before this one that's basiclly the same thing only you don't have to burn up 300mb of your sd card. There's getting to be way to many threads on NSMB. Only two guides needed are Pet1's and Davepm's.

As you can see, you were mistaken - I made this guide 3 days before Pet1 did. And anyways you'd rather burn an entire Disc than burn up a WHOLE 300MB of your SD Card/USB key/drive? I probably wouldn't have even bothered making this post if there was a way to burn to disc when I made this. But actually it was an unexpected blessing because now I am loading everything via USB instead of wasting burned discs. Check the timestamps before you ask silly questions.

In the original release of the fix it is still .rar - doesn't really matter, this file can safely be deleted anyways. The batch file that is run just does the following:
    imagePatch.exe qf-nsmbw.iso.imageDiff qf-nsmbw.iso qf-nsmbw.fixed.iso

So as long as you have "imagePatch.exe", "qf-nsmbw.iso" and "qf-nsmbw.iso.imageDiff" in the same directory it will work just fine. ImageDiff.rar is just a rar archive of the program used to patch the iso.

thanks for the great guide! i finally got this working!!!!!!
im on 3.4J cIOS38 Rev14, USB Loader GX.
Tip for users who are still struggling: try a different hard disk or usb drive.
i kept trying this game on my 250GB Buffalo HDD but it kept giving me black screen during game load but other games like Smackdown vs Raw 2010, Resident EvilC all work fine from this drive!
so i formatted my 1GB USB drive and loaded NSMB and boom there it was!!!!
pure joy after 2 nights of black screen lolzzzzz
    good luck guys!

I know this is a bit off topic but..... anybody who tried to play this on a launch date NTSC console is out of luck, There isn't any softmod that can play this girl from the launch date, I tried every single method found in every board, getting it to load from the disc is impossible without a modchip, USB, SD, or newwer softmod, launch date users, there's always your secondary console.
