I have the same problem: I can't locate main.dol :-(.
To run neogamma YOU MUST install the homebrew channel.... but even with that the game doesn't work ! (error message after 5 min of playing X_X)
hardmod wiikey 1.9g
homebrew channel + neogamma

Having just read through the last 20 pages (!), here goes.
Hardmod - You still need to use a loader!
Softmod - You CANNOT play from DVD!
Green Screen - Try a different loader!
Black/white/jumping - Learn to set your region settings properly!
Blacks Screen - Have you installed The IOS?
WiiScrubber - Partition bad - Make sure you have run the makekey.exe!
NTSC - Check the guide again as there is a new patch for QwiiF release.
Messie - Yes, i agree, this thread is insane!

I have a hardmod (wiikey2) i'm obviously having the same probs as everyone else in my postion and that is the play for 10 minutes and crash problem. I really would like this game to work but it's not looking good... i might try to install HBC and neogamma to get this to fly but i was wondering what SD card to get. am i going to be putting the iso file on the sd card thus needing one bigger then 4 gig? what is the minimum size i need to get and should it be SD or SDHC. i am on 4.1U btw

Thanks for everyone who has posted on this thread. I think I am going in the right direction, but the game is still not working. Getting an "error has occurred. Press the eject button, remove the game disc error". I rented the game and used the wii to rip it on my external hard drive.
I have a 4.1U softmodded wii. I have install IOS53-v5406 and running the game using NeoGamma R8Beta7.
Thanks for you time

iND released a new fix for the QwiiF NTSC version:
Game - New_Super_Mario_Bros_Wii_USA_main.dol_FiX_Wii-iND
Just extract the files to the same directory as your ISO and run the .bat file."
Tried updated #3 method
Softmod with fw 4.0u
patched iso with IND file and burned to dvd-r
no go. just a green screen.
can anyone confirm its working on burned dvd-r?

Hello all. Fist thanks for the excellent guide, and here some info.
- Wii 3.4u system menu
- No custom IOSes
- No IOS53-v5406 (at least I didnt installed the WAD, nor did any DVD/Internet updare
- D2CKey Modchip
- New_Super_Mario_Bros_Wii_USA_Wii-QwiiF ISO.
- NeoGamma R8 beta 12.
The disc channel asked for update. Ignored it and went to HBC. There I loaded neogamma. It conplained that I didnt have the IOS 23?(cant remember which one, but, as I said, no custom IOS here). Loaded the dvd disc, without messing with any configs.
play play play until fist sub castle without any glitch or error.
thank you all for the great info.
PS.: Already ordered the original game. It kicks some serious a$$.

Can someone please help me?
Ive spent the last day or so trying to get the new super mario bros. to work on a softmodded wii with 3.2U system menu using the latest cIOS38_rev15 as well as NeoGammaR8beta12. Up until this point I have been able to play all games flawlessly with this setup. Once I realized there is no way to make this work booting from DVD, I decided to go the USBLoader route just to get this damn game to work. But once I loaded cios222_rev4 and usbloader_gx I can no longer load games via DVD through NeoGamma, it gives an error 001 unauthorized hardware detected. Is there anyway I can make this right again? Someone please help me, im pulling out my hair.

Okay, so, I have an odd problem that I haven't seen anything about yet. This is using a 3.2/3.3 (I can't recall which, probably the latter), on USB Loader GX updated to rev833 (the latest, in other words). I'm pretty sure that the image is already patched, as the game boots up as normal. However, after the "remember to put on your Wii strap" disclaimer nonsense, I press A, and then it fades and I get a black screen. Just nothing. I'm not sure what the problem is here, I must have done something wrong.
FYI, I'm using Linux, and therefore can't use an ISO patch due to software incompatibility. I suspect the OS might be the reason behind all this annoyance. Any advice?
